No weekend riding thread yet? How disappointing!

20 miles of local byways and bridleways for me, some bits of Kent are very, very pretty.

All bar about 2% of today's ride really didn't need a 15kg 140mm full suspension mtb, the need* for a gravel bike is strong...

*OK, not need, more like really, really want 🙂

dodging the showers yesterday on the road bike and a local ss bimble with the mrs today. Actually saw 2 cuckoos today, never seen one before. And an Egret that didn't want to move from his fishing spot.

Macc Forest classic for me. Such a lovely morning. Couple of pints at Leather's Smithy before spinning back down the hill to Macc 🙂

Some new (to me) trails in the Dales, including a bloody brilliant descent I can't believe I haven't ridden before.

38km round the Eastern Moors in the Peaks.

Great bit of everything ride, open moorlandy bits, trail centre-y bits at Lady Cannings, Techy bits at Blacka.

Lovely day and my neck might be a bit burnt...

No riding for us this weekend. Went away in the camper and did some walking. Got back and started bike build. New frame to us and building the rest up from whats in the garage and stripping a 650b.

Think the wheels will need to be destickered.

Did a peaks loop on friday. Started sleeping coming out of glossop so we took the road with the hope of the weather clearing to do Jacobs ladder. Didn’t realise that was such a climb out of glossop! The weather cleared for up and over Jacobs ladder though. Was a practice ride for the lakes Jennride and trying out new bike packing bags so was loaded up.

Just checking your Strava activity (stalker mode!) there's a couple there I've not done. I'm assuming the above descent was the one off the first section of moor?

I've looked at the track you took when dropping off the Dales Way when riding along the road and wondered where it went - now I know! I've not done the climb up from Grimwith either - the only time I've been up that way was via the BW up the lane that your route joins at the top. Great bit of moorland riding after that, I assume it was fairly dry today, I did it on the fat bike in December.

My riding? None this weekend unfortunately - I had some nasty bug mid-week and I've definitely not recovered from it. Diddly squit (sic) energy 😖

Yep, that's the one. The downside is having to sneak past the house on the reservoir where they used to set the dogs on you! But it was decent enough it might justify climbing right up from Thorpe or from a bit further down the Burnsall/Bolton Abbey road.

I’ve looked at the track you took when dropping off the Dales Way when riding along the road and wondered where it went – now I know! The Dales Way bit was pure curiosity. Not worth it really. Track descent plus a couple of very tricky gated stiles to fight with, so leave that one to the walkers. The parallel path along the very top of that moor from Mossdale towards Kettlewell is better.

Moor above Grimwith was not that dry! Approach was easier to link with the climb up from Appletreewick though.

Nice pleasant ride out along the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.

Followed by a slightly less pleasant return via the Tumble.

Bike maintenance on Saturday in preparation for Bike Park Wales, BMCC and Revolution Bike Park next weekend.
Today was chasing a really quick lad up and down at Drumtochty Forest. On the final descent, and very fatigued, I hit a tree stump and ended up head butting the floor. I smashed the peak on my helmet and also appear to have ridden over myself 😀

I need to learn how to post pics in this new modern world, but yesterday I rode 74 miles round the Yorkshire Dales leading a group on the FLAB sportive. Dodged all but one shower, but did see a fantastic funnel cloud.

Original plan for a long ride scuppered so I got up early doors and did a loop of Loughrigg and Arnside then back to Elterwater for a fry up. Beautiful morning and I only met 4 ramblers and not a single biker off road.

Managed to grab a few hours this afternoon and explored a few new trails near Cock Bridge. Lots of entertaining stickers on the road sign as usual and a cracking day to be out.

I was working in Cardiff at the Let's Ride event so it seemed like a good opportunity to ride a mountain bike for the first time in 2019.

After my daughter’s first ride round the Whinlatter blue, our regular Sunday night crowd had a stunning sunset Skiddaw/Ullock Pike ride, in perfect conditions. Couldn’t sleep for hours as still buzzing.

Edit- arse, still can’t post pics. Any tips? I’ve uploaded them to post image.org.

Go to your image. Click on the share button. Look for the "Hotlink for forums" option. Click on the button to the right of that to copy the link to the clipboard, then just paste it into your message.

Good start! 🙂

No pics, but me and the lad attended the QECP demo day yesterday and tried a couple of £8Kish Cannondales (road bike weights!) and Cube eBikes (not road bike weights!). Absolutely brilliant fun in perfect conditions.

Spent Saturday & Sunday in the Lakes, sleeping in the back of the van for the first time. Had a great weekend, 4 Passes on Saturday & Whiteless Pike Sunday. The 4 Passes is the toughest 16 miles I've ever done but well worth it on a sunny day.

Had a bike free Saturday after a Friday night local ride. Rode sunday over the Long Mynd, plenty of walkers but not many in the way down mynton batch or callow hill, ridiculously wet though. Started one colour and finished a completely different colour.

I was channeling my inner Lycra Lout on Sunday at the National XC event at Cannock, i wasn't racing (waayyyy too unfit) but spectating and supporting a friend who was, but i managed a bit of off-piste around the Cannock woods:

Saturdays conditions in the Lakes were outstanding. Glorious sunshine without any haze... Glad to see so many of you out and about.

I tossed it off around Grizedale.
