Is this our last weekend of (legal) riding outside for a while?

Off to do a 40 miler round Drum. At least the roads should be quiet on the drive over.

15k pootle today to stretch the legs and test out my left hand grip, had a small off back in January, landed on my little finger and the knuckle is still swollen and can't grip fully.

Did some steps and a couple of (crap) bunny hops over speed bumps and it's not too bad, so some mellow singletrack is on.

To answer your question, colournoise, no it won't be our last weekend of riding.

Lovely ride this morning, until I managed to rip the front tyre off it's bead when landing badly, at the furthest point from home. Cue a wheelie walk to a meeting point where Mrs CB came to rescue me.

Thanks to the chaps I met coming the other way for the offer of an inner tube.

Out on the tandem this morning, expected more shouts of "you're not 2m apart" 🙂

I headed over to Dallas in Moray to ride at the Hill of Wangie. The trails are absolutely awesome at the moment.

An early morning run around the Pentlands on my CX bike in lieu of the early morning gym session I had planned.

Pretty nice though a bit nippier than I would have liked. My toes got cold.

With the Scotland trip postponed we decided the best bet was to ride from home. Apart from a couple of dog walkers the trails were empty.

Local loop today with a mate.

I actually couldn't believe how busy the countryside was. It felt a bit like Christmas when everyone suddenly decides that they must go for a family walk.

Bridleways where we'd normally see very few people seemed to have many. Coming back the last few miles on the canal was a nightmare it was so busy.

My cheery smile and hello got blanked by about 3 roadies, a few couples and one girl passed me holding her breath. Mostly normal then 😂

Was helping mate to lift his stupid heavy ebike over a fence, dropped it on the other side where it bounced into my bike and snapped the rear brake lever off. He only had the front from there. Later on a stick took out his mech in the woods. One of those days. Good though.

Just back from a dusk/night ride.

Broken bikes and crowds out walking earlier prevented us going out.

The trails are drying nicely.

@rocketdog - excellent. They should make that a Govt sponsored image 🙂

I moved my turbo to the other side of the shed so I could get some free cooling by opening the windows.

A ‘get thee away from me you have the pox’ ride tomorrow. Just three of us. Both of them are way faster than me so they’ll be more than 2m ahead anyway 😉

Nice ride from home. Great spring conditions and no mud!

Devil's elbow running well after the repairs. Well done to those who volunteered. I keep missing the dig days but will join one soon.

5pm, riding in woods near wallace monument. Met at least 20 people, several 70+ yr old walking the trails. Madness, but then again I was out...

Sunshine, dry trails and not having to clean the bike afterwards. Could almost be perfect...

Lovely early solo ride from home this morning, up to the moor and then loops of my local woods. Sunshine and drying trails 🙂
Managed to avoid seeing many other people, the few that I did see kept their distance.

Another ride from home for us. Still not many about.
Usually have a mothers day ride in the Peak so a bit tame today.

No, East Farleigh lock - but I'm a stones throw away from Allington lock/Malta Inn. I go that way when running.

Fair few people out on the river side, about normal numbers though.

Been a while since I road to East Farleigh from Tovil when I lived there. Quiet on pilgrims way at detling/Boxley. Seemed more roadies about tho- prob taking advantage of the reduced traffic.

Lots of appropriate social-distancing/family groups in the Yat. Closer we got back to Ross, the more stupid the general population seemed to get.

Anyway we had a great ride in drying conditions. Took it pretty easy. Refused to share my sweets. So a win all round. Went out feeling a bit anxious about the whole CV thing, came back a changed man 🙂 It’d be a proper bugger if we can’t ride bikes.

Was nice to ride my Ripley. One day I’ll get to ride it in the dry.

It’ll be bloody lovely next week. If we get to ride it.

45 miles on the winter singlespeed. Planned my ride perfectly so the last 12 miles were all with a decent tailwind. I should probably get the summer bike out but I do love my Genesis Flyer.

Managed to sneak out on Wednesday, bit damp and greasy as we slowly move to raining season.
[img] [/img]
To manage a little social distancing a few of us managed to get on for a 30km spin on Saturday, not many people about but did happen upon some good old father/son coaching....far beyond my abilities at that age.

Managed to get out on the hill opposite with the pup. Despite Bank Holiday volumes of traffic in the valley, it was still pretty easy to feel socially isolated

I wanted to take the MTB out as the trails are finally drying out. But in the circumstances a loop from home on the gravel thing seemed more sensible. So 50 miles checking out some little bits of track that I’d not ridden before. Found some gems and the sun shone so all was good. Well almost all. My tool keg managed to fall out somewhere between these two pictures being taken and despite going back over that section later in the day I couldn’t find it 🙁 Oh well, hardly the biggest disaster right now.
