Yep which means winter 2.0 was up here 53 weeks ago for sleet and miserable weather
OK that makes it sound like my fault.

Depending on where in the UK you are, this makes it mid-spring, winter games or tapps-aff.

We had planned to ride the Pas de Peyrol as we have set ourselves the challenge of riding the top 100 Climbs of the Tour de France (as per the Simon Warren book).

We are still debating "the rules" of this mission but I strongly believe summiting on foot should count if weather conditions require it.

To be honest I was terrified, we were completely unprepared for the conditions at the top. Even walking up the road needed crampons and an axe (ours are having a lovely time sat in the cupboard under our stairs 1000km away). The snow was so high it completely covered the barriers and the angle of the ice meant any slip would have been fatal. I was desperately trying to kick steps in my lightweight summer boots.

Anyway, it was outstandingly, jaw droppingly pretty and definitely, definitely counts.

Mr TW safely back on firm ground.

Spot the sled dog team.

Fantastic ride today in and around Jedburgh ..lots of singletrack in woodland on both sides of the valley ..
Many thanks to Colin for showing us around ..hoping my "off" is nothing more than bruised ribs ..but boy are they aching now .
The bottle of Jamesons bought for medicinal purposes should help 😉
A couple of pics ...

Usual quick Saturday spin round the woods. The dirt is in that brilliant not-totally-dry-but-not-claggy-fast-rolling-and-loads-of-grip state.

First time up at Hemlock trails and there's some great riding there.

It was an early start, so I'm glad I was awake enough to remember the bike was on the roof!

I've been a good boy so being allowed out at 5 till bedtime...which is shit loads of time...sunset nearly up to 8pm so I'll just need the lights at the very end of the ride. Planning on heading up the Peak District... Where is still up for debate.. There might even be some sunshine 🤩🚲👈

30 miles round the FoD for me. Bit muddy but a lovely day to be in the woods.
What is it with people blocking go arounds on jumps and bomb holes? Every time I move them off so kids and less adventurous visitors can use them someone piles them back again!

Steady spin around the Bingley Loop. Didn't bother with any extras as the car parking in town is now limited to 3hrs. It's very dry - there's only one easily avoidable puddle on the lane after the climb up the rocky steps for example, never seen that lane that dry.

First time at Aboyne, riding the trail that I separated my shoulder on three months ago. I was not much off a PB in really slippy conditions, so it would appear that I’m back up to speed 😀

......and a wee video of my mate following me down a trail from Fridays ride.

Sunday. Bimble, bimble, bimble. Did get a couple of KOMs on new bits of trail though (mainly as hardly anyone has ridden them yet...).

To be honest it was hard to get motivated to go out today. One of those cold damp days where the cold just gets into your bones. But I never regret going out and today was no different. Just linking up a few short sections of track that I’ve seen on the map. This one was about half a mile of steep climbing from the road to get to a radio mast then back down again

@hairyscary I know that descent but had to watch it a few times to realise as it looks nothing like that when I’m tip toeing down it 🙂

Blast around Healey Nab, Brinscall Woods and up to Great Hill on Saturday. Weather was decent, only a few soft spots under tyre

Guided a mate around Nan Bield who had never rode it before. Despite me saying I'd never ride it again, I quite enjoyed it. Lucked out with the weather though.

Did the re-scheduled BHF Peaks MTB Challenge on Saturday.
Couldn't have asked for better weather.
Just over 24 miles and around 3400ft of climbing - had hoped for 3 hours but was feeling a bit under the weather and struggled on a couple of the bigger climbs and managed 3:38 in the end.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Also raised over £600 in the process so not a bad day out 🙂
