What you all upto? The winter is due in on Sunday apparently...

I am herding a group of teenagers around the Perth Enduro, hoping they don't nut themselves. I'll be the stressed looking one on the HT...

I think Sunday may have to be a nice trail run somewhere, and likely fixing a couple of bikes from the race...

I'm spending the weekend attempting to remove a sheared bolt from a derailleur hanger and patching the numerous holes in my tyres. Oh deep joy…

Roady ride, 40 miles-ish, from home into the Cotswolds, following the Churn valley from Compton Abdale to Fairford, where there's a smashing cafe, and then home again.

FoD (off piste pixie built trails) for me, while its still dry.  Covered in leaves, Acorns and Crab-apples though, so what tyres for marble infested trails ?

It's been half-term week fro me so it all counts as the weekend?

Had some time today and wanted a very rough baseline for Mayhem next year, so today was 3 one hour efforts round the same route with two hours recovery between each one. Surprised at how consistent my times were.

Nearly turned back on the way south to Hamsterley this morning ..the warning sign came at the Errington Arms roundabout when I passed a car heading North with two inches of snow on the bonnet ..( the first snow of winter !) ..I hadn't seen a flake up to that point ..got to Castleside and there was two inches lying ..see pic ..by Tow Law 4"..and a few phone calls from the gang asking if we were mad enough to continue ..which we were ..and not a flake of snow was lying when we got there ..

Very few riders out either ..and I didn't take any pics when riding ( too bloody cold for that ) ..

We had a great couple of hours or so and then called into the cafe for a hot chocolate & bacon sarnie ..to find a very emotional owner on her second off last day before retiring after giving twenty years of sterling service ..and seriously wondering if she was doing the right thing ..

Over 4000ft of climbing and descending in 2 hours.

Got up to just under the snow line under Salzburg, on the hunt for new singletrack.

On the way up.

Kitzsteinhorn ski area in the background

Near the peak

Some bloke building a hut

Friday afternoon off work to go up the Dark Peak for a lap of Ladybower, weather forecast looked shitty all week but when it came to it we had sunshine and 8'C, so it was ace.

This afternoon has been perfect cycling weather, absolutely gorgeous out, sunshine and golden leaves all the way, along the lanes in sunny Staffs while the roast pork is cooking, back in time for beer and dinner prep. Perfect Sunday.

Set off around Ben Alder in wintry conditions and a fearsome northerly wind and was glad to get to Culra bothy for a brew!

Reached Laggan at 14.30 and decided to miss the path over to Ft Augustus due to lack of appetite to hit another pass so decided to roadie it to Fort William which was a cracking spin to a very posh Hostel at Glen Nevis!

Crisp clear ride to Glen Coe which was superb over devils staircase was testing some bike packing bags for Aguille and they passed with flying colours the front bar bag doubling as a rucksack on the bits you have to push up

End of dry trails for the season in the local woods. Little bimble round checking out the trail conditions after yesterday's rain. Already starting to revert to their usual slippy, sticky clay selves. Cracking weather though.

Managed 50 miles on the gravel bike from Liverpool over round Wirral on Saturday. Freezing cold on my big pie head. Bib tights and cycling cap ordered for winter. Some nice rides going on. Love super cold and blue skies.
