Full 'yat this morning from Dunblane, back through Uni Woods and Mine woods at BofA and home.

Glad to be out early-ish, there was a wall of people arriving at the car parks as I came down.

A quick squirt around Drumlanrig with the GF. Had a Goshawk complaining at us at one point which was pretty cool to see.

I've been meaning to post for a while. Over the last few months I've been gradually starting to ride again following multiple heart attacks. Yesterday I had a nice pootle around the Somerset Levels.

Been doing this pretty much everyday. I've realised I'd much rather ride 6 minutes and do mini downhill than drive anywhere for anything else right now. Got way better at berms, more confident everywhere, and am glad to have this. Shorter stem and wider bars ordered, im only pushing the bike up so grown up bmx type feeling is ok.

Took a trip out to Tomintoul. A was going to try to ride through to loch Avon but the head wind was too annoying so I dumped the bike in the heather and hiked up onto Beinn a Bhuird instead. It’s nice to have options 🙂

Think it might be time to picture how quiet the roads were during the first "lockdown" last year, get changed and go out for a road ride during the second half of this ongoing England match... Even in our small town, the silence is becoming deafening through our windows facing the road.

The probability I might melt within an hour in this ridiculous heat is immaterial.

A rather hard work ride - big headwind and then scorching heat on the climb with no wind!

All good though - around Callander, out over Dukes Pass, back along a (busy) Loch Archray and Loch Venechar.

Early start for us after setting Abigale off on a 10 hour shift.

Tossed a coin between Cutgate and Wharncliffe and Wharncliffe won

Busier than usual for an early morning but everyone looked like they were having fun in the sun.
Trails were dry and fast, sketchy in places with the amount of dust about.

Started out in Wharncliffe and finished up having a play in Greno

Got back and regressed my head set, boxed up some forks to post in the morning and fitted the new shock to the Levo SL than we bought earlier this week from Weeksy

Did my biggest ever, by some distance, mountain bike ride yesterday. The 'Lord of the Loops' from the Dark Peak guide book.

Today was just a gentle road soon as I'm pretty worn out after 9h23m in the saddle yesterday.

Did a local loop yesterday evening and this evening went to the FOD to play on the newly refurbished skills area and a lap of the blue with a bit of red added in. Glad I didn't plan any more as it was incredibly hot! Didn't help that I was on the big bike rather than the trail bike, big sticky tyres made it hard work.

Also didn't help that the front brake was dragging, only found out when I put the bike on the rack! Hopefully a relive of the pistons will sort it otherwise I'll have to send the brake off to Hope for a service and I'll be left with no working bikes ☹️

I'd post up some pictures if I could work out how to do so..

I was in the Lakes with mrs asbrooks and while she was doing some yoga, I went out and did the Ambleside & Little Langdale ride on Saturday afternoon. I had such a good time and was grinning from ear to ear, the people who I passed must have thought something was wrong with me.

Anyway, struggling for motivation today, sat at my desk attempting to do some work and can only think about when I can go back... Ahem..

We were up in the NE visiting family, so had a lovely spin around some of the coastal tracks of @p20 youth in the evening sunshine. Really nice to ride somewhere flatter for a change 🙂

We're trying to train him to like it. The photo belies his hysterical barking and post-immersion tremors! 😂

Saturday - road ride from Blairgowrie to Dunkeld then Pitlochry. Return over the Moulin road.

Sunday - Glen Lyon, Loch Tay and Glen Quaich on the motorbike. The 'Hydro' road from Glen Lyon to Glen Lochay is in a really poor state now.

Got a bit of catching up to do, it’s been a busy few days!

Wharncliffe Sunday, then onto Durham to stay the night on my way to work in Eyemouth.

Monday,
Boat out the water, and say hi to the resident. Check into the Accommodation, followed by the the local hill after work, then grabbed some fish and chips at 8pm and rode to the Bay, and followed the coastal path for a bit, just as I was about to turn into the drive way, I decided to chase a sunset uphill, hoping for a stunner at the top.

Finished the job at 7.00pm, grabbed a pie, slice of pizza and some cold beer from the petrol station, dropped the car at the “Hotel” and headed for St Abb’s and followed the coastal path to Eyemouth, but I’d hike a bike, but it’s quite comfortable other than the weight, if I get the right position, I can use the downtime to massage my shoulder knots 😂

Today, Drive to Craobh Marina just South of Oban for a couple of hours on one of my favourite boats, “Bill & Me” it’s built by Baltic Yachts and to a Superyacht standard, but is a sensible size. With the weeks work done and no need to be home until Sunday morning, I’ve headed to Ft William.

Weekend started yesterday on my trip to a very soggy Swinley. Took the hardtail because I didn’t want the full sus covered in the sandy paste that Swinley throws up in the wet

I’ve been hugely inspired by the number of woman doing the Outdoor Provisions and Rapha Pennine Rally over the last week. So I filled my bag with OP, donned the Rapha and just headed out to Skipton to see how far my legs would get me, on a route partly inspired by @whitestone. 42 miles later, at least 50% of which were off-road, I made it home. Tired but very happy that every week I feel long COVID is getting less and less. Absolutely loving the Niner. Already put 130 miles on it in since I built it just over 2 weeks ago!!!

Yeah I've passed by there for a few years and the collection of parked and rotting Range Rovers keeps on growing. Amazing.
You'd have thought somebody would take them for parts.

Went exploring my new surrounds on the road bike. Went from Perth down to Gleneagles, Glen Devon and then back via Dunning.

Jason - the fella in the photo - had not ridden MTB at all for three years. This wasn't his only crash but he kept coming back for more 😉

Just trying to build my fitness after a rubbish year. So loops of the Middlewood Way and Canal. I can honestly say I love this bike. It’s my road bike, commuter, fun with the kids, playing out and MTB. This and a short travel full sus 29er would be all the bikes I want and need

I’m crap at taking pictures but managed to get really close to a Heron. I would’ve got closer but a barge surprised it and made it take flight

Had my second jab in Saturday so no riding and only a relatively gentle ride this afternoon after the French GP. Ride from my parent's house and planned to loop round the Blorenge but the weather thought otherwise! Cold, thick mist and a bitin wind meant it was no fun up the top due to poor visibility due tomist and fading light so came back down the Tumble road instead of the singlerack. Topped just ove 40mph through the twisty bits so was still fun.

As I haven't turn this way for a few years it was actually a bit of a surprise some old trails that had become overgrown have been pushed back into use during the lockdowns.

This is where they po out by the canal but above it is 7-8 tracks of varying difficulty, will pop back with the big bike at some point and see if the features that were built over 30 years ago are still ridable.

Rain was forecast so we only planned a short Grizedale loop, but we were presented with beautiful weather.

Grizedale

Little bit of exploring the day before.

I mildly dislike you all right now (not really) but (1) those are some beautiful pictures and (2) I should have stayed out of here having spent the morning unblocking some drains and the afternoon that I should have been riding with my two boys trying to get just one of my two mountain bikes into a ridable state followed by well over an hour trying to find repair bits that are in stock. Lovely pictures (dam it).

not the greatest riding pictures, but I am exploring my new local hill. it’s closer to human powered shuttling than trail riding. i’m not complaining, it’s on my doorstep-ish.
