I foolishly went up Ben Lomond with McTrail Rider and friends.  Long climb, massive blister on my right heel and a decent that was mostly out of my skill level.  Also puked near the bottom lol  Next time I'll climb a munro in cooler weather.  On the plus side stunning views

video of the slow decent

At the top

views from the ride up

bit of snow near the summit

Still getting over my various injuries from last weekend's action, so a fairly chilled one in the Dales for me.

Met up with friends in Jedburgh ..to do the Justice Trail +..( the plus bits being some very tasty singletrack that Colin had " discovered "..

I only lasted 19km having not felt 100 when we started and upchucked half way around ..so took the shortest route possible back to Jedburgh ...there was so much more to come but I will return ..my thanks to Jean, Dave , Russell, Ant & Colin ..nice to get most of the group together again ..irs been a while !

The bit I did ..

I heard from Russell that Colin led them on a merry dance on his ebike and everyone was totally knackered at the end !

Poah ..blisters on your heels ..

My mtb shoes which have loads of life left in them have frayed on the inside and also cause blisters on my heel ..this stuff alleviates the rubbing and sticks like shit on a stick ..i never start a ride without it on both heels now ..

Managed a quick ride. Sadly no pictures as when I was thinking about taking them some militant old ladies appeared, lined up across the trails and started screaming about how they hated cyclists which rather put a downer on the ride........

Did an easy enough 45 mile road ride yesterday to a cafe and back. Then today headed down to Afan and rode the Whites plus the Blade.

Took the FlareMax for a gentle bimble along some forest tracks. It didn’t seem to be too offended 🙂

Lovely dry conditions at QECP for the bike fest. Only riding I managed to fit in before the rain came was a demo ride on this. Transition Throttle. My lordy, what a fun bike. Would love one after that, but would have to sell all the others first! Best bike I’ve demoed since the Yeti 575 about 15 years ago!

Nowhere exciting on the bike this weekend but earlier today i took a friends son up to my mates farm for a wee adventure on the quad bikes

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

And i introduced him to "Kai" the bull, hand reared as his mum rejected him so he acts like a big 1000lb dog and is very friendly.

Good day so far, still got 3 hrs of sunshine left so heading out with the dog now.

More bloody painting, indoors, on another glorious weekend...

I'm serious, anyone want a three bed flat to buy in Aberfeldy? I'm fed up of landlord duties.

Only the one pic 'cos I was out on my own, but did a variation on Back o'Skiddaw which ended up being 36.4 miles and 5206ft of ascent.

Then had a stroll up Blencathra today with my dad. Cracking weekend to be in the Lakes.

Did a strange version of the Macc Forest loop due to some parts still being closed. Climb up to Teggs Nose and up Charity Lane from the road side. Went on to Dane Bower Hollow and Cumberland Brook via a trip to a farmers field to take photos of lambs 😀

I would upload pics but can’t get Google photos to play nice.

Fantastic weekend in the lakes doing neither Jennride or the Fred but managed to grab an early morning ride round the Langdales - with a detour up to the top of Wrynose and back.

Then some larking about in the woods with the lad in the afternoon.

Postie Rich hosted a great Jenn Ride in the Lakes with a fab night at Wheelbase

Not that I did it mind...

Kentmere Reservoir has been drained if anyone wants to go Dam Busting!

Made a 4am assault on Skiddaw to take in the sunrise on sat morning. Flew down Ullock then over to Grisedale Pike for an amazing people free full speed descent all the way to Braithwaite. All done by 9:30am. So weird not finishing a lakes ride in a pub tho!

We rode up above Derwent Valley on Saturday, loads of people out on the trails

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Sunday we rode from home so that we could keep an eye on the EWS stage results

[img] [/img]

Our daughter was out in France for the EWS. It was touch and go as she was recovering from a broken collar bone and had only just got the all clear from the Consultant to compete. Her big crash at the Steel City DH last week hadnt helped so we had our fingers crossed that nothing went wrong

I got out both Saturday and Sunday but no pictures.

Fun little pootle in Elland woods on Saturday followed by a couple of pints at magic rock. Still getting to know the woods so got a bit lost, but still lots of fun.

Sunday I took my mate down to Sherwood Pines for her first ever MTB ride. She loved it and was a natural so she's now dead keen to get into MTB'ing and already in the process of buying a decent bike.

I know the Kitchner trail get's slagged off for being too easy*, but it is a great way to introduce someone to biking.

*It's a purple not a red

Was planning on getting out on Saturday, but it rained and I was tired, so taught my boy how to shave instead. Sunday I couldn't be arsed, so I went out this morning before work to try and make up for a lazy weekend...

Monday Morning Ride

Had my first puncture on the ghetto tubeless, with a mahoosive thorn (still attached to a twig) in the front wheel. Pulled it out and the sealant did it's thing, allowing my to keep on going, which was nice. On my old hard tail, that would have been a 15 minute stop to change the inner tube, so I'm now a total tubeless convert!
