Right folks, I'm off to the Lakes on Friday afternoon.
Sat here with an OS map front of me and spoilt for choice. What would you do/recommend.
Our likes: Borrowdale bash, Garburn Pass to Kenmore, descents, rocks, don't mend climbing/pushing/carrying.
30Kmax - sat morn
Sunday morning - something short and seek, skiddaw up/down
We are more skilled than fit.
(was considering SAT - garburn pass up to high street, down to pooley bridge (30K), then Sunday skiddaw or something,)
What would you folks do?
Not bother with Skiddaw as it's a bit dull really and heading down into walkers will make it crap. The other options are popular footpaths so avoid.
Helvellyn possibly but again busy potentially.
Plenty of good stuff out at Kentmere, Wasdale/Eskdale/Boot is worth a look but more of a drive in. The White Guide Book is worth a look.
I did borrowdale & Lonscale & this yr for first time it's pretty epic to say the least but to TBH from the time I have spent in the lakes all of it is IMHO so don't think u can go wrong. Enjoy I love it up there
Neither high st or Skiddaw are great rocky/tech riding (without using footpaths - not cricket on a summer Sunday)
What about Coniston Duddon area?
Ullswater lakeside and Boredale?
Up garburn, carry on onto high street, but veer east at thornthwaite crag, down nan bield, then high borrans back to car at bottom of dubbs road. Cracking day.
walna scar?, either the whole route or shorter version.
whatever is the best Grizedale circuit which takes in Parkamoor descent
Garbun is a wasted ride imo.
Grizedale is brilliant and lots to ride there. I would try to include the Fox, Lawsons Park, I don't rate Granddad, dad, dentist, but it is good. Could make a good loop starting from Claife Heights too.
Walna Scar is a fantastic long descent!
Walna Scar buy the latest mag top top ride with two quality decent
seathwaite decent is excellent, Walna Scar! to Coniston is ****ing Epic
Wilma scan to Coniston....... how do you get back to the car?
Depends where your car is. Route in mag starts and ends in Torver.
How far roughly?
13 miles or so.
