A local ride yesterday with some mud and slush around. Middle_oab took his camera with some college assignments to complete (panning, silhouette, contra jour).

Today saw the lads hit the slopfest of the local woods while mrs_oab and I went for a cuppa at one of the last few trigs we haven't visited locally.

Usual Tier 4 plug round the local windfarm, though actually drove up with bike on back as roads were so icy, 5 miles to start and finish point, 2.5 of which in neighbouring LA so still being good.. 😁

Back on some old familiar tracks on the Plain. A long day of constant headwind, almost all uphill and almost always raining. Or so it seemed! Bloody marvellous though. Pics taken at about the only time it wasn't raining!

There was a lot of traffic. Understandably, they got right of way!

Had a virtual afternoon tea planned with some old friends yesterday afternoon, so in advance of that I delivered Secret Santa presents to Yeadon and Knaresborough by bike. 60km in total, carried sleigh bells and jingled appropriately while handing gifts over.

Met this nice lady while in Knaresborough who said she could see coffee and cake in my future. She turned out to be right...

Plotted a commuting route using mostly bridleways, so thought I'd go for a pipecleaner ride to make sure it was all doable. Lots of mud, lots of stiles, took ages. Maybe I'll keep it for those occasional summer scenic commutes. Great to have an explore though.

Planned a big loop for Saturday which was aborted halfway round by my mate’s unfixable puncture. Today consisted of a few hours sessioning/crashing at the local woods.

bloody good fun though!

Took the kids for a ride around Moor Valley Country Park.

This is the 2 year old after being asked not to skid her balance bike 🙂

The usual Friday night head clearer got moved to Saturday evening due to inclement weather.

Then today was my first ever ride on a 29er (and the first time I've had a proper XC bike since the 90s). Bought as the base for a specific winter project, even with old geometry I think there might actually be something in this clown bike lark...

The light this morning was also amazing.

An unexpected amazing sunny ride yesterday afternoon. The forecast was completely wrong.

Today has been sweeping leaves, chopping logs, bike tinkering, big lunch, walk the dog up the hill. Now untangling Christmas lights. Nice weekend 👍🏻

First time out on a proper bike ride after smashing my ribs four weeks ago.

A couple of #localloops around Richmond park confirmed I’m not recovered enough for gnar yet 🙂 - definitely can’t manhandle the bike or manual without pain.

Slapped a B+ 2.8” shod wheel on the previously mulleted SolarisMAX and went for ~3 hour pootle on the Roseisle singletrack between Findhorn and Burgheed.

Forgotten how much I liked that neck of the woods.

On the way back the tide was right in and I had the pebble schoom soundtrack for a bit at the edge of the airbase.

Turns out, just what I needed.

Nae photies as it was a bit driech an drizzly...

Lovely 50km sunny ride around the Otter Valley and Woodbury Common.
Pretty sloppy in places, but almost dusty in others.
Met up with the family for a walk half-way, a then pootled off for some more slip-slidey fun.
Discovered this place on the way back.
Homemade cake and hot chocolate with marshmallows...and they take PayPal, which made life easy (no cash on me).

This was midweek, but the pics were nicer than those from today's ride, which was rather grey.

Spent Sunday following some new tracks while they were frozen (still local under tier 4) - not all went anywhere but we did get a loop out it eventually.

No Pics but we let the dog off on the walk for the first time. Recall is reasonable and he comes back once he's said hello to the dog he's seen no matter how far away he is. Not interested in bothering unaccompanied people (a win).

Discovered that the lead needs to go on at least 200m before the recreation ground limits are reached. Like a toddler that has been over-stimulated he can't process commands at the end of the walk!

Covid restrictions here in Cataluña allow us to ride in our local district and adjoining ones. We planned a route over the mountains to the south of us, down to the Ebro valley and back over on a trail we'd not ridden before.
Down to the Ebro
Weather was sunny but a bit windy, 16° average. The cafe at half way serves filled croissants to die for, I had a warm cheese and tomato, food and coffee for 2 for €6.
The return route was up a fantastic canyon which deteriorated to a goat track push for about 1km. 64km in total with 1,500m of climbing.

Managed to get out yesterday and seeing as I haven't been allowed out of Wales for a while I decided to hit the main trails at the FOD. The refreshed blue descent is back to being fast and swoopy, lovely. Sadly the red was a bit sloppy it was bone dry last time I was on it!

free picture upload

Still, a good workout and a bit of type 1 and 2 fun is always good. The main pivot bearing didn't like it though, need to change that before the next ride.

Lumpy diy 100k for a couple of AAA points. Up and over Gospel Pass at the snowline, chilly descent to Hay then up past Black Mountains then finally up and over the Blorenge via the Tyla to home. 120k all in.
