You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Morning
Planning a week-end away in a few weeks. normally go to Wales but thought we might try the Peaks - haven't ridden there for years
Anyone able to recommend a route for a "natural" day? Could this be combined with a thrash around Wharncliffe Woods - looks kind of nearby!
cheers charlie
some fantastic loops available in WC/Greno. basically just have a thrash around, get yourself lost, then ride bits you find as you go along.
there's no right or wrong way round the woods.
Linking up the woods with the Peaks would be difficult. Take them as separate days out. Though you could do both if you stayed in the 'foothills'...
They are easy enough to link on the bikes. I do it occasionally, but it's a bloody long day. I'd pick one or the other unless you're proper mile munchers. The loop I do (and it's rare that I do it cos it's a long day) that takes both the best of the Peaks and Wharncliffe is probably 50+ miles, about 85% off road.
yup - thinking of 2 days, 1 in't woods, one in the Peaks
Do the peaks on the first day then I'd say, as you'll be doing more mileage out there.
I've not been on the xc loop up wharncliffe in a good while but last time I did loads of it had been wrecked which is a pity as it showed so much potential.
Yeah the XC loop is kinda non-existent. I tried to do it once, got lost and then just sessioned some of the DH tracks which was way more fun anyway. It's worth looking over the road at Greno wood too - there are some sweet trails there.
Aren't all those sweet trails being done over?
The wharncliffe xc was my fave wooded ride, its very easy to get lost. It took me about four visits to find it all but it was worth it
I'll have to get back up there and see what still exists
There was a dig day in greno on saturday
