What does a yellow number plate signify? Fayolle has one.

Greenland might have nicked it if he'd pedalled at the finish!?

A worthy Gwinner.

Gutted about Greg's mechanical. I'd have mailed the PB fantasy contest if he'd gone fastest.

I wouldn't have believed that possible after the previous runs.

It's a good job track is too easy and not tech enough to create differences or Gwin might have finished half a day ahead 🙂

The Thirion crash was savage:

And that right there is why my bikes never leave the ground 😆

What happened to Loic?

Hematoma in his thigh according to the commentary. Did he crash in practice?

Is it a little embarrassing for the bike in a WC to be snapping chains? If it was a new tech I could understand it but im not sure I fully get why it happens. Am I wrong? Is this something that should be possible to snap with 5 rotations of the crank?

Was it something to do with rear shock lockout on the left grip area?

Greg is still about 40pts ahead of Gwin in the overall now.

Unless Danny gets on another winning streak, it looks like it's between them at the moment.

Was it me or was there a huge amount of mooning today? I think I must have seen at least 4 people and probably missed quite a few!

As for the mechanicals, is just that they ride the bikes so much harder? Chains snapping under too much power, riders getting quite a few flats? I know I ride like a pussy, but I've not had a puncture for about 18 months!

Although people call it a bmx track etc, the forces going through the bike are massive due to the speed.
I ride there maybe 6 weeks a year and there's nowhere else I can think of where you ride that fast for that long.
Where you go into the woods again after the 2 big wooden berms and the GoPro drop is pretty rough and I'm hitting it probably around 25mph so go knows what speed the pros do.

Not sure it's possible to snap a chain under too much power, if the chain is in good order? Just on the basis that a pro track lead-off man or a road sprinter can put 1500W+ through a chain, with violent acceleration, and it's fine.

I think it can only snap if it's deteriorated, like a rough shift has slightly bent a plate and caused a weak spot, and it's prob hard for the mechanic to spot.

Debris in the chain? Last snapped one I had was a tiny twig just changing the alignment about 1 mm

Would bet that the pro bikes get new chains for race runs. The chain was probably just damaged during the run

Good point Garry, I've only snapped chain in cross races when all sorts of junk has been caught up in the chain.

legend - Hart's snapped on the start ramp. I think someones last week did too.

Daft if they do really, even a really simple thing like a chain will tend to have a bathtub failure curve- fitment and manufacturing faults mean there's always a risk of failing instantly, then once you're over the hump stuff lasts.

This chain snapping at Leogang is getting ridiculous.

I suspect there's some kind of bitter Scooby Doo villain sabotaging riders' bikes in a bid to get rid of the World Cup.

I really enjoyed this one, top racing.

Found myself moving in my chair as though I was riding 🙂

The non bikers who happened to pop round also got into it.

Wonder how marginal chain length is on those bikes? Massive acceleration forces plus steep start ramp at Leogang leading to suspension compressing at the bottom with the chain still under huge stress might all conspire to put unusual amounts of force through any weak components?
