As above. As a cheaper power meter it seems ideal as I'm not looking for the best, just decent. And any reason I shouldn't go for single sided?

Nothing wrong with single sided unless you suspect that you have a leg imbalance

Just before Christmas I got a double sided version very cheap....

I followed the instructions meticulously...and even for someone who does all their own bike maintenance and is a qualified engineer, it was an experience for sure....I found it laughably stressful getting the sensor glued on the cranks within 10minutes (the time you have once you've mixed the two part epoxy). People say it's no harder than gluing a patch on a tube, but when you get a patch in the wrong place, or it peels off then it's only pence that you might have wasted. One shot at gluing a few hundred quids worth of stuff and it kind of ups the ante! 😉

The first turbo session the figures seemed vaguely in the same ball park as my other power meter (direct comparison not possible, but checking heart rate and gearing). But then on just my second turbo session, I was pedalling harder and harder and the power was dropping and dropping...so I tried again the next day....and the power was barely half what I expected....and then it dropped to just a few watts....

Turns out one of the sensors had debonded from the crank. The customer service direct from Watteam was fantastic however, and they sent me a pair of new sensors and glue kit within 4 days. I have now glued the new sensors but haven't had chance to test them since I broke my hip before I got chance to try.

So, for the price I paid for dual side, and assuming I've nailed the install this time and it's reliable - the scant reviews and other user comments online suggest they can be - then I'll be pleased with it. Though, at the price I can currently see online for the single side, I'd probably pay the little extra for a 4iiii or a Stages. Just for the lack of stress that comes with a factory fitted product.

That's good to know. My only other issue is paying 25% more in Europe than the US but I can always transship if needed.

Personally, I'd buy it from a UK seller, even though the replacement sensors were sent direct. You never know when it might be better to have UK warranty support, and when there isn't a power meter on the market that doesn't have issues at some time or another, I'd especially be wanting the warranty support on a relatively lesser known product.

Don't live in the UK so it's all relative. Everything has to go in the post and leave the country to get fixed. UK option is still cheaper than the European option tho.
