Morning All,
So after this mornings soggy trousers when I got to work moment it appears evident that my pack no longer appears to offer much protection against the weather. I have a Respro Hump cover but that was also wet through. Would a good spray with TX Direct be the answer of using something like Fabsil or another waterproofing agent altogether? The pack is a Deuter with a metal frame.
Thanks 🙂
Plastic liner
Or a dry-bag with roll-over top if you're fussy. The pack will leak through the seams whatever you do to the fabric btw.
Good thinking, have grabbed a bin bag for the ride home.
I have a pannier cover adapted to go over my bag to keep most of thfe rain and mud off but anything important is in a dry bag.
Definitely use a drysac inside. They can be had for not much more that £10 dependent on size.
Do you have a mudguard?
Tin of Fabsil Gold & a paint brush, & paint it liberally.
ANd a drysac.
I read of a DIY silicone sealant recipe (via a tent forum) to waterproof nearly any fabric. IIRC it was clear household silicone sealant and white spirits. Mix and brush on. I will be trying this on a few old things including a Vango tent groundsheet which seems to be letting water in
