Having to commute 4 times a week currently, and although its only about 2 miles (one way), due to several reasons I've been doing it on my BMX. Of course, I'm getting absolutely soaked from 20" wheels spraying me constantly.

I think the only solution is waterproof trousers, so went on wiggle, and found these

Budget:

Twice the price, but more likely to get used for proper cycling too:

Any others that you can recommend for around those prices? eg: <£40.

I've got some Marmot Precip pants which are fairly decent. Very light & packable if that's of any interest.

Altura's boulder got a good review in last years mags. You could do proper riding in them, too. I've seen them for sale online for £40 - but only in size S or XL.

In the market for size L if anyone knows where to get 'em?

Why not go for the Goretex camo ones on E-Bay? You may find them a little wide though. 😉

2 miles? a pair of £15 specials from millets will do the trick just fine.

Surely a Crud-Guard would go on the back ? Likewise one on the front, & maybe a Neo-Guard.
Cheapo combats off Ebay are good.
I've some Gore XCR's for really crap weather but it has to be bad cos they're horrible to ride in. Would sooner have my Ron-Hill Bikesters & put up with wet (but warm) legs.

I've been mightily impressed with the Keela Scuffer HW trousers I bought recently. They may not be 100% waterproof but they'll keep you clean, and do have a DWR finish so spray beads on the surface. Very breathable, very well made and although not bike specific they have articulated knees and are more comfortable than trousers I've had from the likes of Endura. Can be found for £44 on Amazon.

I use my walking over trousers and cycling clips (edit: has now been promptly arrested by fashion police)
