Now it has started to rain and most of us are looking to our waterproof gear, does anyone have any recommendations on re-proofing stuff?
I've not had a great experience with the usual grangers and nikwax for trousers and coats, it lasts maybe one ride and then its back to wetting out.
I'm proper careful to not wash stuff in the machine where fabric softener could get on it, i wash it in the sink with liquid soap, drip dry and then a bit in the dryer on low heat.
What are your recommendations / tips / etc for this?
Cheers
You re coat it in a aerosol spray after?
I would be interested in a fabric that was longer lasting and tough and except that it would not be at light or not a breathable as the best.
If it leaks the membrane has failed. The coating is to allow water to bead up to allow the breathability

Don't bother. It never lasts.

Columbia Outdry. Not perfect, but much longer lasting.
