any recommendations?

ive got a 1 year old endura mt500 waterproof jacket- which is bloody mint in all truth, but im going to sell it as it just doesn't fit me, im a size small/medium, the medium was a bit too big everywhere, and the small fitted better at the time (when I was slimmer!!)

so now I cant actually bare myself to wear it anymore, it rides up at the front and just feels too tight

I know its an exceptionally good piece of kit, but I don't want to pay anything like that for a waterproof again

assume the endura singletrack jacket will be pretty much the same fit? is there anything else that has a nice fitting shape but isn't short at the front and back?

I try not to ride in biblical rain so the mt500 is probs more than I need anyways

any ideas?

(ps if anyone wants a size small endura mt500 in black, 1 year old going cheap let me know)

Have a look at the Endura MTR Shell variations.

They are very light, fairly breathable and the discontinued "emergency shell" I have fits my long torso well.

In lighter rain I tend to wear a softshell jacket, but you may have that side of things covered already.

Have a look at decathlon, their mtb jacket looks decent and some on here wear their £60 jacket

I have an old model keela saxon, bit baggy on the arms but stuffs away nicely. The new version may have fixed the arm cut.

I may well pop up the shop at lunch and have a look at what they've got ( get a good deal on endura, so hopefully the mtr or singletrack perhaps are a different shape?)

ive got a softshell, not waterproof but great for cold clear days, I do like having the waterproofness of mt500 for when its just wet through everywhere, like now, so I still want a 2nd jacket to be waterproof to some extent, and in case getting caught out in it

will have a look at the decathlon ones too they always seems great value and usually pretty good bits of kit too

MTR Shell is what I use unless it's really cold and wet. I've tried on the MT500 & Singletrack in the past and both had awful fits on me. The MTR is a much better fit for me and you're a similar build though a bit taller. Plus it folds up nice and small, which is a bonus.

Can be found in budget, I think.

https://www.altura.co.uk/products/detail/AL22NVI/nightvision-thunderstorm-waterproof-jacket/

Nicely designed, good venting and reflective. Removable hood, etc.

yeh am coming to believe the fit just doesn't work on my body, long torso, and the jackets just too short for me, arms are perfect, but then so short it just rides up on me, sounds daft but I actually dread wearing it as im forever pulling at it to get the front and back down....

ill have a look maybe they do a mtr waterproof version that's a different fit, the softshell endura ive got is a different fit, but doesn't breathe very well and isn't waterproof, least want some waterproofing

Altura Mayhem? I've had mine a few (maybe 4-5)years now, just washed and re-treated it for the first time the other day. It's remained water proof all that time, only gives up after several hours of persistent down pour.

fathomer - looking at the blurb on the MTR shell its rated at 20000 waterproofness, so similar to the mt500...that could be the winner if the fits good on it too!

will have a look at the mayhem too, just had a brief search of the thunderstorm one and it gets terrible reviews!

ideas on fit?

Half way between a roomy walking jacket fit, and a more fitted bike jacket fit! Not too short at the front, and not massively flappy at the rear.

it gets terrible reviews

Happy with mine!

For the money the decathlon MH500. Is hard to beat
10.000 waterproof and breathable
Good that fits over most lids and put vents
I’ve had mine 3 years and been awesome
Kept me bone dry in some biblical weather
And Heavy enough for warmth

As ever on this, Hainman and I are always recommending the Decathlon one, it's brilliant. It's a great fit on me, fitted nicely all the way down the torso and long enough to cover the top of my shorts. Arm length also bang on, I'd happily have paid 200 quid for a jacket as good.

Flashy, any Altura stuff I've had has been utterly shit, sorry!.

cheers guys - will have a look see if I can get up near a store this weekend, I could order online I guess too, the decathlon stuff is mint for the money, ive got a few down jackets from them for 35 quid a few years ago, still use them now and still in perfect condition, worth a check out for sure

FWIW ive just been shop at lunch, mtr shell is really really really thin and the sizing doesn't work for me, small is tiny and rides up, large is ok and still rides up (didn't have medium)

tried a newest version of the singletrack jacket and that felt the best, small was definitely a different fit for the better over my small mt500...felt similar in terms of build etc a bit thicker but a much better drop tail and the front front was longer

I just bought one of these in red in the sale for £50 for a walking coat https://www.decathlon.co.uk/mh900-w-p-jacket-red-id_8502093.html

Actually I bought two online a medium and large not knowing the sizing. Large is perfect for walking to fit a some winter insulation under.

The medium would be great for on the bike over a base layer, the cut is really good with plenty arm length and rear length, no storm flap on zip so it doesn't bunch and pit zips. Fabric not too stiff Hood not big enough for over helmet though.

Probably less breathable than the MH500, but more waterproof, 3 layer 15000mm
and only £50.
