Hi there I have a waterproof coat which unfortunately the wife put it in the tumble dryer and the seam tape has fallen off.
I was wondering if anyone know where I can get some more seam tape to redo the coat, I have found a lot of tapes online but they need to be ironed on to activate the glue, my problem with that is the iron would probably melt the coat as is only a thin shower coat which is in my camelbak just incase. Any info is appreciated.
Just get some seam sealant liquid and use that.
I used iron on tape on my gore-tex jacket. Just turn the iron right down and turn it up a click at a time till it sticks. Just don't hold the iron on it for ages.
Ap thanks for that but think tape would be better for me.
Chris I'm 99% sure it would melt as its kind of like a shell type material.
Can you not get a cold sealing tape?
Use coolest setting on iron and use a tea towel for additional protection. Try a small bit first as a trial. I've used this method with some very thin and delicate looking shell material (goretex and pertex) and been fine. How did the manufacturer stick it on in the first place?
Have you looked on manufacturers website for repair? eg Rab - http://rab.uk.com/reference/warranty-and-repair/repairs.html
Or clothing repair company - http://www.scottishmountaingear.com/repair-service/clothing-repairs
It's an endura coat, not looked on the website for repair instructions, and yes the seam seals were all fitted when I purchased, I'm still not feeling it as far as putting an iron near it though 🙂
