I have a new KTM hardtail with a RockShox Recon gold air fork. After a few rides I gave it a wash down with the garden hose as it was pretty muddy. I notice the stanchions were fairly dirty so gave a short blast with the hose. The fork now makes a "squelch" noise every time it's compressed. Sounds like there is water in with the oil. I turned the bike upside down for 1 hr but no joy. Seems stiffer under compression and a noticeable squelch noise like when you step in deep mud. The poplock barely works now after 6 rides. Fix or take it up with rockshox under warranty ?
I'm not sure forcing water part the seals with a hose is a warranty issue but I'd get it serviced professionally via where you bought it in case there is an issue with seals etc. And stop riding it before you knacker something expensive.
It's a big no-no spraying forks with water. Even just hose pressure apparently. As above you need to get them serviced and dont spray them again.
It's a dirt wiper, not a water seal.
I think I've done this too. Been squelching now for a while, was assured by halfords mechanic it was just sort of breaking in... I've got a reba.
I will take the lower section off - clean out and re-oil
thanks
Warranty, but don't mention housing to RS, I've had issues with RS monarch seals letting in loss of water and I don't jetwash my bike

Right...straight to plan B..thanks 🙂
Is even just rinsing them a problem? Like dribble levels of pressure running on the stanchion?
if mine are really dirty i will let a little overspray from the hose rinse them but without directing it at the seals. that way the stanchions get no wetter than they do riding on a wet day/ through lots of water.
give them a good dry of after that though. never seen any sign of water getting in when i've done lower leg service's.
My Reba always squelches when the compression is set to 'tortoise slow'. What's your compression set at?
I give my stanchions and fork crown a quick squirt with the hose, but don't aim directly at the seals. Never noticed anything getting past when I service the lowers.
