Bought a virtually brand new Gore Phantom yesterday - excellent condition, obviously been washed.
Did a smallish road ride in it today...it was raining but not hard.
I know it's only 'water repellent' and not full-on waterproof but was surprised that it was quite as damp as it was. Would the way it was washed have had an effect - ie done something to the Windstopper fabric? I know you can proof them to a certain degree...shall I give it a spray of Nikwax softshell proofer or is that just the way they are?

Answers on a postcard please 🙂

Grangers proofing stuff followed by a tumble dry should make the best of what it can repel.

I've got a gore phantom, the beading is excellent, can go out in the rain, and it beads for at least 45 mins in light rain, so looks like it needs a reproof, I've not washed mine yet
