Was there ever a go...

Was there ever a go-to face for Oakley lenses or an I imagining it?

Stupidly managed to gouge a inch long scratch across the lens of my glasses.... They were on my head, not my eyes, and I went rummaging in a small space.

Replacement lens from Oakley is north of 80€....don't think I paid much more than that for the glasses new.

RxSport?

80€ is cheap to protect your eye though.

Cheap protection from brand snobbery.

You can often pick up lenses on eBay. Pretty cheaply if it's an older model.

It's probably worth thinking about why you bought Oakleys in the first place. If you wanted cheap lenses you'd have bought cheap glasses. I've had two sets of RX sport lenses and they aren't as good - they're not as clear and I've found they scratch more easily. The polarisation isn't as good as a posher set of lenses either.

How much that matters to you may vary. I used to wear regular glasses before I switched to contacts full time and am very particular about and sensitive to lens quality. Safety glasses give me a headache. But some people clearly don't mind that.

Why? I liked them. I'm colour blind AF but like the light they let through. They fit my face and don't have a frame around them which I find distracting.

I have a similar pair from Decathlon for bike duties that cost ~40€. They seem pretty robust. Guess I'll be using them for general duties.

Have found replacement lenses on AllTricks (never heard of them, R2 bike (used them before) and some Italian shop all around 60€.

.

Will check out RXsport.

Cheers.

Revant Optics lenses were a recommendation from somewhere on STW. Worked really well for me

Galaxylense on eBay have been good for me. Based in the USA, but never had any customs issues.

Think I got 20% off at Oakley with my STW member discount.

Specifically to protect your eyeballs? There's products available for a fraction of that price to perform that exact function. It's definitely not cheap.

Come on they're part of the aspirational uniform, a brand you wear so people know you're a rufty-tufty outdoors action boy (with a bit more disposable income), and that's fine. But let's not pretend they are any better than their competitors at keeping grit off your peepers.

They're as well liked by gravy seals and divorced Dads as they are by tubby IT managers on Santa Cruz'. The real genius of Oakley is that they've made the marketing of expensive sunglasses to large segments of the public an art form.

Pick a brand of sunglasses and be a dick about it.

https://www.thesunglassfix.com/au/oakley-replacement-lenses-en - I bought several sets of replacement Oakley lenses from there last year. Quick shipping to the UK. Quality seems great.

I've had a couple of sets of replacement Oakley lenses from Fuse - www.fuselenses.com

I've even used them for hassle free warranty replacement after I used a mirror glaze pair in seawater a few times and the coating failed.

As mentioned, Revant Optics are pretty decent and well priced.
