Had a clear out of parts lately to help fund a new fork, and decided i wanted the Niner Carbon.
just had a quick google on prices and reviews,
And came across this thread on MTBR, Its only 3 days old so the juries still out, but the pictures are not confidence inspiring.
guy who was with him says it was just a small drop 10 to 18 inches,
Whilst others are saying he,s drove into the garage door or things to that affect.
If you've got a Niner fork does the images above bother you, or are you happy its more than strong enough.
I havent found any other reports of failed Niner forks and ive seen a few bikes on here with them.
So should i just buy them and treat this as an isolated incident.
Anythings breakable.
Do a search in Google for any fork brand and I'm willing to bet you find images of broken ones, this doesn't mean there's an inherent fault with them.
To redress the balance whilst I was racing the Roc D'Azur a few weeks ago I spent some of the time riding with a guy on a Niner with carbon forks and he was nailing the downhills.
He didn't look to scared about the strength of his forks 🙂
tbh I think you can find a failed example of pretty much any fork / frame if you look around enough. That pic wouldn't worry me unless there were lots more of them. Yes I do have a pair of niner forks 🙂 though not yet used.
Oh and before anyone questions it - no, Niner isn't one of our brands.
aye into the garage door - while on the top of his car maybe ....
Richie fair point, hasn't stopped me from ordering them, just caused a slight delay.
Niner are aware, and have asked for the fork so ill just keep my eye on it and see what they say.
Trail rat that seems to be the general vibe i think.
Surprised his wheel did'nt explode first 😉
It failed before bending the frame.
ive seen that damage before .....
on a seven axiom ti.
lowered the roof on his audi at the same time !
We have not had any Niner failures with Niner, and this video is very reassuring.
Just tied up the stockroom and found a few of these niner carbon forks hiding away. If they are still in stock when I get back from a trip to cornwall, I will be putting one on our demo Niner. Point being... I am 16 stone and have confidence in these.
If you look at that picture... is the wheel in straight?
If not straight, I wonder if the wheel is buckled, illustrating that something grander may have happened?
I dunno, really I dont, and certainly not accusing anyone of anything.
I'd only worry if I was looking at that with my hands still on the bars.
