[Closed] Warranty warped Maxxis tyre?

I’ve never had a tyre warp before now, but it looks like my barely used dissector has got this issue.

I think I bought it Feb / March but it’s probably only been ridden a handful of times. I don’t remember seeing it warped before I took it off to put on a Spec Slaughter. I popped it on the rim at lunchtime but on spinning it tonight to make sure all the sealant has gone round it definitely warped / buckled. Pretty sure it’s not the wheel.

Have I got any chance of warranty or is it just suck it up and don’t buy a dissector again? I’ve got an old aggressor that’s had loads of use so I can always stick that on until the slop arrives before the dhr2 goes on.

Happens with Maxxis lately, two DHRs for me lately, one DoubkeDown on first ride, on an Exo+ after a year of use

I would definitely try and get it warrantied. Seems to happen quite often with Maxxis and Schwalbe.

Amazingly I found I bought it on Amazon in March. Contacted them via live chat in the last 10 mins to advice it’s done faulty and they’ve already emailed me a free returns label and my replacement should arrive on Sunday!

I don’t buy a huge amount from Amazon but that is ridiculously good service.

To give Maxxis their dues, I once bought a new tyre (packaged) from someone on here and it bulged massively on first inflation. I contacted Maxxis direct telling them what had happened and they asked me to send it to them and they sent me a new one by return.

What constitutes reasonable wear and tear? I had a massive bubble pop up on a crossmark inside the warranty period, but the retailer said that it wouldn't qualify for a warranty claim because I'd clearly ridden it a lot...

Difficult one - I’m not sure what Maxxis’ official line is. If the tyre was fairly heavily worn then I’m guessing most companies would say its wear and tear. My dissector still has the moulding bits on it and the edges are all still sharp / square etc

Yeah, I didn't fight that ruling, but having said that, I've run other XC tyres for longer, to the point of semi-slickness, without the carcass collapsing from inside, so I've made a mental note to avoid Maxxis for the time being.
