Not normally one to post on forums especially to moan, but I think this may be important for Manchester Cyclists:
Today myself and a colleague were left in shock after suffering the most aggressive verbal abuse we have ever dealt with in 20+ collective years of customer service.
We did not suffer this from a member of the public, but the Manager of Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative in Manchester, Paul Cheetham.
At this stage I need to point out that Edinburgh Bicycle staff are generally helpful, friendly and well trained.
After receiving a bike from ourselves and finding a bent rear mech hanger on the bike (the box was damaged in transit, Pauls own admission) Paul has unleashed a barrage of swearing and abuse down the phone at a staff member. After being asked to calm down and refrain from abusive language he persisted and was subsequently hung up on. He then returned the call twice carrying on in the same aggressive, intimidating manner.
We have offered to assist Paul in every way possible only to be met with agrgession.
I would advise any cyclist in Manchester to think twice about dealing with the Manager on Wilmslow Road as you may be met with a situation that will leave you upset and startled.
