I'm looking for recommendations of a jersey for winter mountain biking, for wearing without a waterproof, somewhat windproof, warm with a thermal layer underneath, can get wet n muddy and is easily washed. High neck zip.

Does this exist, not too expensive??

Did a search and found things by Endura or Madison, what other brands fit this bill?

Thanks

I've got an old spesh thing which is excellent, might be worth having a look. Otherwise spend some £££ on a Castelli Alpha, the best winter thing I own.

You might want to look at fleece jerseys/jackets that have a layer of Windstopper material. These are more common in outdoor/mountaineering shops. They'll certain have high necks. I just did a random Google search and found the following example (got no idea about the retailer, but the jacket is nice):

This ones got a GoreTex layer....I'm getting temped myself now 😉

You can get thermal cycling tops with Windstopper built in (or equivalent), but they often have a quite thin layer of fleece, although thickness isn't everything is you're willing to spend a lot, i.e. Assos 851.

Endura Windchill works for me for pretty much the same.

I got a brilliant Polaris one from Go Outdoors last winter. It's been used on roads and MTB on cold days and has been excellent even when it's got wet. From memory it was about £40.

Pretty much identical to this slightly pricer one...

I've got a funkier one that fits the bill - it's nice kit, from merlin I think.

I have a Ground Effect Baked Alaska, ticks all the boxes. I've only worn it three times so far but it's been really comfortable with just a short sleeve baselayer underneath.

I was out in my cheap decathlon softshell today, think it'd tick all your boxes. It doesn't have a back pocket but does have normal pockets. Not sure they still sell it though- traditionally as soon as I buy something I really like in decathlon, I'll go back in a week later to get another one and it's sold out.

Decathlon softshell is a good shout, this one would do the job:

I was lucky enough to get mine on eBay. I also have a submerino and some ¾ longs from when it was cheaper and they are really well made so probably worth it but yeah it would be good if it was stocked over here.
