Lightweight - Montane Terras. Showerproof, robust, dry quickly. The ZIp-off version add flexiblity.

Winter - Mountain Equipment Combin. Schoeller fabric is the absolute dogs danglies in the winter.

Me like Montane Terras but they seem to be a bit more expensive now than when I bought them. Might well be something better nowadays.

I -prefer Craghoppers, used to use Rohan but they got silly expensive & trendy, and quite frankly too easy to destroy.

For waterproof i like the paramo cascada's, otherwise the haglof climatic range is good.

Solid and simple - Craghopper Kiwi pants, as above GoOutdoors always has good deals on them

Warm, Waterproof and winter - another vote for paramo cascada

I'm posing not walking - any soft shell trouser, best worn with a pair of light weight alpine mountaineering boots. Alright, dry weather winter walking - recomendations above, stuff made by haglof, mountain equipment or mammut. I've got mammut base jump pants made out of scholler fabric - fine in the dry just dont like the feel of them when they are wet.

Berghaus Cargo Pants with zip off bottoms
Berghaus Deluge AQ in your pack in case it gets sh*tty
Berghaus Goretex Boots
Bridgedale Trek socks
Gators optional

Kept me going for 3 days and 40 miles around Ambleside during the "severe weather warning" of October 1st.

craghoppers are great as a cheap start. I found that my MTB endura singletrack longs as good as anything if you want to use something more technical, they are as good as my berghous extreme walking trousers if not better

I got some Craghoppers in TKMaxx with magical nano-something-or-other which means they're water repellant. £15ish.

For everyday wear / going to the pub - Craghoppers Kiwis.

For proper walking - Paramo Fueras if it's warm and dry, Velez Adventures or Cascadas if it isn't.

Craghoppers are a good cheap choice.
Nike ACG are really good though, I've used them for coxing in (at 6'1" I'm a bit big for that but never mind) and they're as waterproof as you like whilst still being a really comfortable fabric (ie. not plasticy).
