Any freelancers or IT contractors done this?

Current gig are a total bunch of muppets so I'm off (fail to authorise timesheets, don't respond to emails or IMs, generally shoddy). Notice is supposedly 4 weeks. I've had nowt to do for the last ten days. Would like to just hand my laptop back today and not come back.

I've never had to do this before - usually as a contractor you get bled dry.

Get a good book or Netflix, enjoy 4 weeks of cash

I've got two sets of Avids to bleed. It may not be enough time.

Write your day rate down. Look at it

If you're smiling then stay a bit longer

Your job is to make money for your company so suck it up and wait.

(Edit - if they're failing to authorise time sheets and it affects your payment then spend the spare time finding out who's to blame. If you're under an umbrella tho then as before)

If you want to leave that's fine, but stick to the terms of the contract,so if that means 4 weeks notice then give 4 weeks notice.

Never break the terms of your contract, stay professional

I would hand notice in and enjoy 4 weeks of not doing a lot. If you're not busy now then I doubt they will ask you to do anything when you're about to leave.

I'm WFH. I'd expected some home work, but not to be given a laptop and told to clear off on the first day.

Your job is to make money for your company so suck it up and wait

Understood. I do have a more lucrative gig on the horizon.

If they're effectively paying for you to do nowt and it's a good rate of pay, why bother leaving?

4 weeks notice won't necessarily mean 4 weeks pay (depending on how your contract is worded).

It often does, but it depends how good the client's legal / HR teams are.

I'll do it for two of your day rates. Each.
