Out a ride yesterday and my wahoo elemnt recorded some pretty big gps errors (showed me in iceland when i was in tomintoul etc), the clock was an hour out, and it wouldnt upload automatically.
Couldnt even find the ride in the units history until a friend mentioned her wahoo had recorded her ride as being on 01/01/2006. Mine had done the same.

todays ride got the date correct, but straight-lined big sections of trail, and missed out the last 2km.

An update glitch? Anyone else having this fun?

Thanks, that will explain why all 3 of us struggled on our ride to the cross channel ferry. Going to be an interesting next few days if our Wahoos are not working!

A few friends have had spectacular route changes the last few days. Most ended up in tbe Bristol Channel,  strangely.

Turns out the Millennium Bug was real, it's just very specific (and a bit late).

Mine has been doing the same since Monday, did a factory reset this morning and it seems okay now.  I haven't done an update since I used it last week when it was fine so unsure what's happened.

Although my 'test ride' was at my desk so may not have had a gps connection, so may well do the same when I use it later

Anyone heard about a similar problem with Lezyne GPS units?

I had a ride on Sunday that showed a date of 1/Jan/2006 - at the time I just put it down to setting off before it had a GPS fix meant that it had an odd time stored at the start of the ride. Now however it seems an odd coincidence. No position randomness during the ride, though.

Edit: Ah, yes. I see someone in the comments of the DC Rain Maker artical has mentioned seeing the problem on a Lezyne. Hmm, be nice if there was a statement from Lezyne along the lines of the update Wahoo seem to have given.

Yeah, nah. Not until they'll sell me[*] a replacement battery. I draw the line at products _even less_ repairable than Apple products.

[*] I'm the guy who got through 5 replacement batteries trying to sort out a Fenix that wouldn't hold a charge, with limited success.

Just an update on this.  I did a factory reset yestrerday, and the unit worked as normal on the way home last night, no glitchy speeds, no randowm stop/start of the ride. Stopped the ride and it uploaded to the app with the date as normal.  What it wouldn't do was push the ride to strava.

And going by previous experience I certainly wouldn't replace a wahoo with a garmin

I did a ride yesterday and it tracked my position fine, but it had me doing the ride 19 years ago...

Wahoo had me doing 494 mph today, apart from it wasn’t today it was Jan 7th and at a completely random time. Given the email about the gen 1 head units I’ll be surprised if a factory reset works.

Yeah, I've just FR my Elemnt and walked round the garden once the GPS locked. Seems fine, right date and track.

Edit: NOPE. 2nd activity is in 2006. Maybe FR before every ride might work?

I did edit that post...but it seems to have gone.

Anyway, NOPE. Subsequent rides are in 2006.

Theyve got a software fix which they’re testing over the weekend, so hopefully get an update next week 🤞

Updated my Bolt yesterday; it took a while to find satellites afterwards (30mins ish) but seemed to work fine afterwards

the ride didn’t upload to the app or strava afterwards though. Not sure why- I’ll try again today

I think Wahoo have dealt with this pretty well tbh. The other end of the problem response spectrum compared to Sonos!

Nearly bought another one thinking mine was on the blink after five years of service. Glad I found this post

Mine did the same, 1st ride was fine, 2nd ride was back to the broken version.

Did the update yesterday but it's still not working right after this mornings ride, ride didn't upload to the app or to strava. 1st screen isn't showing the fields I have set up through the app. It was also still doing auto pause.

Ooh. Glad I've stumbled across this post.

I'd plotted a couple of rides for last week when we were staying in South Devon, but found my Elemnt kept losing GPS/pausing, so was a bit of a nightmare navigating, kept having to refer to Komoot on my phone. At the time, I put it down to poor signal on the narrow high-hedged steep Devon roads, and possibly the GPS hardware on my unit being 'on the way out' ... But will go fire it up and get a software update.

Updated my Roam v1 yesterday and went for a ride, fine for me. Maybe check you did actually upgrade to latest version

"ROAM 1 – WR24 - 17055
BOLT 1 – WB17 - 17055"

Tried again last night, so sorted now thanks.  Couple of odd things going on, the 1st 'workout' page won't change on the unit itself no matter what changes I make on the app it still shows the default screen on the unit.  Got round it by creating a new page 1 with the data fields I want to see then hiding the 'workout' page.  Still won't upload rides to strava.
