It's that time again.
The Weekend Ride Pictures Thread.
Ride your bike.
Take some pics of the ride.
Post them up with a few words.
Solo 1000 meters 22km ride for me this morning.
I'm still struggling a bit to get over an illness then a two week plus riding holiday where I should have been resting instead of riding at altitude...
I know first world problems and all that.🙄
Friday night and I don't give a shite.
Gorgeous evening in Aberfoyle. Some actual hero dirt on the 2% of trail surface that isn't composed of either root or rock.
To be fair that looks proper steep!
Quiet at the back!
Nearly needed lights last night but it was still short sleeve weather and the bikes didn't need cleaned.

Same here. Will be super-upset when I can't wear this one. Matches everything currently in flower!
Ace spin with mates on very different bikes, just enjoying fast riding, big skies and a good cake stop.
Incredible weather for me this morning. Borrowed a mate's Switchblade for a demo to see if I should buy a frame.
Meanwhile Reeksy1 was on an away trip and got a dump of rain on the dreaded clay of Toowoomba.
Guess which is which.
Lots of water on yesterday's big gravel commute, with the Trent on one end and the Grantham Canal at the other.
Where's that @rocketdog ?
Rode the family trail in the FoD last weekend. Today rode some very easy trails/green lanes in our local woods. Rode past the start to all the "proper" trails but not ready for them yet. Collarbone/shoulder felt good, legs and cardio not in the shape they were 11 weeks ago before "Splatterbone".
So good to be back riding on the dirt. New adventure bike is like cheating, it's so fast uphill with those XC tyres. Seemed very sure footed on the easy/smooth trails going the other way.
X-Ray Tuesday. Thinking happy thoughts about actual bone fusion... if not well this was just a million times better than my 26 previous Zwift rides. Physio not wild about me riding, but just going out with a couple of mates, having a laugh and then feeling you've just about earned a beer makes me feel happy about my choices 🙂
Piano, how far can you get into Grantham on the canal? We are there next week and we’re hoping to use it as a connector in and out of Grantham.

Dartmoor, not far from Princetown
Early-ish start to avoid the heat in the Dee Valley today. Three weeks of producing industrial amounts of snot made it hard work.

I come off the canal pretty much where the A1 exits and Harlaxton road leads to the centre. I'm not sure about how the canal goes after that, but where I exit it's about 8 mins on road to the centre of Grantham.
edit: just looked at the map and it looks like that's as far as the canal goes. It terminates where it reaches the A1.
First proper outing on my new road bike. Despite now having gears I was only .5mph faster than last time I did it on my singlespeed. Almost feel like I shouldn't have bothered but the climbs were a bit nicer and the bike fits me better!
Gardening all day, but snuck out for an hour before tea. Lovely conditions, not too dry, dappled, fading light in the woods. Perfect. Hopefully time for a longer ride tomorrow.
Sunday morning spin. Went for a longish xc to try a mix of tracks on the borrowed Pivot. Managed a bizarre crash where my glove was pulled off by being caught between tree and grip (no damage to either me or bike).
Also found a boat 😬
After some forestry works, old trails are re-appearing better than the old ones before. I can't tell the location. Sorry.
Trip to the Dyfi after much suspension prevaricating ( thanks again for suggestions 🙂 )
New 170/170mm bike feels much better at a bike park than 160/130mm is shock news
Had a bike fit for the road bike.
It feels weird having what I thought was awesome messed with. Off out for a short ride to find out what it feels like going up and down some steep (for near me) stuff
Nice solo ride on my beady this arvo. Possibly my last one before holiday next week, and didn't want to stop riding. Bikes pretty much dialled now, can't wait to get some proper rides in on it.

That is the end. Depending on where you're heading maybe get off before the end, there's a back road from Harlaxton passed Denton Reservoir which takes you into Barrowb,y and then that end of Grantham,
Spent the afternoon drinking posh wine at the local vineyard.
Which probably explains: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/recovering-bikeaholics/
Feeling thoroughly under the weather today, but went for a short local ride in Belfast.
Also found a boat
So did I 😂 The old canal is completely dry, so it ain't going anywhere.
Really pleased. Got out and made it to the top of the Ridgeway, first time since an op. So, pretty much back to normal.
I'm away this weekend in Borrowdale with both my sons ... 18km walk yesterday up from Borrowdale youth hostel to Bessyboot, Allen Crags, Allen Tarn and back down Stonethwaite valley via Black Moss Pot (all the local and non-local yoots heading up for a rave by the looks of it!)
Then, today, Borrowdale Bash. Son#1's first experience really of 'mountain' MTB. Son #2's second trip, slightly fitter and fewer bike-tech issues than the last time he did the trip.
Feel very lucky to have shared this weekend with them ...
A trip out to Moel Prysgau bothy to check what condition it was in. I was last there in April; now in August it's a mess. Who in there right mind leaves bottles of pi55 by the door to trip over? Who thinks it's acceptable to dump bags of waste by the door?
What kind of (now reported to Operation Snap) individual has a mindset that allows them to believe that driving up the riverbed of an upland stream is an OK thing to do?
The ride out to the bothy and then back to the car was great. The scenery fantastic as ever, my companion was her usual wonderful self. But FFS, the 4x4 and quad users we met seem to have a totally different set of priorities.
Then we had a bit of a swim, followed by a meal in Llanwrtyd Wells, home of so many great events.
- I rode the Deeside Trail this weekend, and it was fantastic!!! Andy will be riding it again sometime, hopefully next year, maybe with a slight tweak of starting and finishing in Ballater, so I don't need to carry luggage. The weather was lovely apart the occasional showere, that was quite refreshing amid the warm mid 20C heat.
Did a nice 22 mile mixed surface with the little one in the trailer. Along the River Dee, down to the beach for ice cream and then along the River Don.
