It's an 04 plate mark 5. It's the 140bhp model.

Over last couple of years it has intermitantly over revved when in fourth or fifth gear. It happens when accelerating at low revs (1500) and revs up to about 3-3500 revs before the car starts to accelerate (like your riding the clutch-but I'm not). It happens so infrequently and has happened for a longtime that it seems unlikely to be a clutch problem?

Anyway it's getting a little worse now, but still drives really well through 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Other gears are fine if you don't boot it, otherwise the problem does occur.

Anyone got any ideas on what's going on?
Cheers guys
🙂

Thanks guys.

How much is a new clutch, flywheel etc and labour likely to cost do you think??

DMF on those I assume (as in the mk4), so a lot. Probably not that much change from £1000 all in.
