Should I be smothering the back end of my SC Blur in GT85 pre or post ride to help keep the water and dirt at bay? I never know whether this is a good or bad thing to do. Tips? Thanks!

I just give mine a wash! Don't go pointing your jetwash hose directly at the bearings though... apart from that, an occasional strip down and grease should keep things running smoothly. (this is much easier if you've got one of the new Blurs with the grease nipples underneath!)

Yes, sadly this does not have the grease nipples. Would using GT85 strip the grease out I wonder, more harm than good?

yea, I wouldn't go spraying GT85 around the lower bearing area if I were you.. it will probably just work its way in and thin the grease which will make the bearings wear out quicker than they do already!

Don't spray gt85 everywhere,it is good at flushing out grease. I put a drop or two of chain lube on the pivots of my vpp frame and then wipe away any excess, seems to work well without attracting loads of grit and crap.

I'm with TeaBoyPaul. GT85 can be used as solvent and doesn't generally play nicely with the grease in bearings.

I've had a Blur since 2004 (I think it was -tied in with my first proper work bonus) and save the occasional strip & clean of the frame the bearings have been sound.

The top rocker ones came apart once, because I missed the shim out on reassemble - but that was my fault entirely.

Great thanks - I'll leave well alone and just clean it properly then. First time out in proper muck on this bike tomorrow, should be laugh!
