I've had it on a rs super deluxe air for 2 years and it's been way better than anything stock I've tried before, so good that I had to have their fractive tune plus luftkappe on the forks as well (fox 36), and after that on my second bike forks as well (34s), *luckily* a hardtail.

I had my super deluxe tractive tuned. I'd previously had the corset and luftkappe and was very impressed by both, so was confident that vorsprung would be a good upgrade to my shock. Tbh, I was underwhelmed. Knocking feeling as the shock started to compress, and then got some squelching. Tf tuned said knocking was oil moving between chambers or something, and was normal. After speaking to them a 2nd time, they took shock back. Said there was scoring inside shock and ended up replacing it. I still wasn't that impressed, didn't feel much different to stock. Certainly wasn't worth the money.
Now running coil on a different bike. That really is different! I'm sure it would have felt far better on the old bike. So much more sensitive and plush.

sorry meant to reply - so mixed bag then - it would be going on a vpp suspesion design

last thing i want is a knocking on the shock, ive only just had one replaced stock for knocking/rattling!

ideally would like a coil, but fitment issues are a stumbling block at present, so was hopeful this was the next best thing really

Hi Mate, This is something I looked at briefly when I had my shock sent off for warranty by Rik, but decided that I'd see how things went without it. So far its all ok, but come service time I might take the plunge.

Shock currently feels ok most of the time, which I accept as I ride a very varied selection of trails, as you know. I might drop in and see Rik at some point to get more info off him

If you do get it done, I know you'll do a decent write up about it, go on, you now you want it 😉

You might not like the tune and nobody can argue with that, but knocking to me is definetely a shock issue, no knocking on mine.

I had the Tractive tune on my Spesh Enduro.

It did a great job of providing some platform to squeeze into.

Before the tune, if I squeezed through my feet through a corner the suspension would by pass the middle of the stroke and give a mushy sensation.

With the tune I could dig the rear end into corners where a tauter mid stroke would then push back, propelling the bike out of the corner.

Overall suspension response was improved. The bike tended to habg up less aggresively on very hard square edge hits, rode ncely at the sag point and had tenacious grip when climbing techy trails.

I was impressed and happy.

Recently bought an Evil Follow MB, found the rear very difficult to find the sweet spot.

Called TF Tuned to pick their brains on the Tractive for the Evil.

Spoke to a very negative guy, said it was more trouble than it was worth, didn't and couldn't seem to quantify that statement. He just said fit an Ohlins coil.

I've been a fan of TF for years, appreciated their help and input on many things over that time but to be told to buy a £750 shock that doesn't come in the required size was disappointing.

I am now in an awkward position, I have a positive experience with a previous Tractive tune, would like another but have no faith in the providers of the Tractive tune.... basically I don't want my shock worked on by the guy I spoke to.... ever.

Seems a shame but one guy has undermined many years of good service and made it difficult fot me to figure out what to do next.

So to sum up.... I liked my previous Tractive, would like another but won't risk my shock going to Mr Grumpy and Unhelpful.

Think I spoke to the same person. Wanted to buy an X2, was told they all would fail at some point (which is utter tosh) and said I should put an ohlins on, which I asked if they knew what shim stacks I need, to which I had the reply, we'll figure something out. Doesn't fill you with confidence when you are about to drop £700 on a shock.
FYI I've had an ohlins and its a very good shock, but a limited range of adjustment. Ended up buying an X2 of CRC, which hasn't exploded yet (Neither did my last one, nor the ones on my mates bikes)

Think I spoke to the same person.

Think I've also spoken to this person 😁 hence why I sent stuff elsewhere

Hey Guys,

Sorry to hear you didn't have a positive experience on the phone when you were enquiring about Tractive/ that X2. We always try and give people the best advice that takes into account what they say they want from their suspension/their riding set against our collective experience of what products we know work well on any given suspension design, and that we believe will be the most reliable/ value for money long term. We always want you to get the best bang for your buck and will suggest alternatives if we think they might be better suited given the information you give us. If want to call and chat to someone [else] re. Tractive on a SuperD then just drop me a line on the TF number 01373 826800

Cheers, Ruth

@Mbnut I got the Tractive Tune for the Superdeluxe on my Following MB and I would say the changes you noted with the Tractive on your Enduro is pretty much the same as my experience with it on the MB. I would recommend it especially if you are heavier or lighter than the average rider.

hey mate!

damn im getting useless at keeping up with my own threads ha! sorry about that

give you came off a x2 i think on your old bike i can see why you'd be a little underwhelmed, not that the SD is a bad shock at all, the tune is good on the SC range, but it just lacks abit all round ime, interesting you had your SD warrantied? what was up with it? more and more people im finding have had the same awful, rattle/knock i had on mine too

as for the tune, well its in there now getting done 🙂 couldnt resist, i ideally wanted a coil but its a tight fit on the HT so im going to try this first, as rick and various others local have done nothing but praise it, so fingers crossed 🙂

im also now running the cascade components link, which i will say has totally transformed the bike, the level of grip that thing gives is mind boggling considering its just a clump of metal the same as stock, a vast vast improvement over traction and doesnt smash through the travel as easily, so im hoping combined with the tune and cascade that it will be about as good as i can get it

i will report back as will be testing it over the weekend
