Just thinking ahead to winter and need to get some mudguards for my Vitus Substance SRS 2020.
I've never really fitted mudguards before as I mostly ride on my own. Motivation for riding last winter was pretty low so I was thinking I might try to find some club rides to ride with people to see if that would help. I'm unlikely to get invited back if I turn up only to spray them with sh*t for 4 hours though.
Currently have the above as my roady. Running 700x40 tyres, max clearance for the rear is 700x42. Am I likely to find any mudguards that would fit? I'd like to know before attempting to fit some, finding they don't fit and then being unable to return them! Can always sling on some 28 GP 4 seasons if it's not going to work but I'm loving the wide volume tyres at the minute.
Thanks as ever
I ran those SKS Speedrockers when I had mine, worked a treat
Thanks Steve - they look like they get round the problem of going between the seat stays and reducing tyre clearance but the rear looks a bit short for group riding. Found a review that confirms that too. Looks like a good possibility though!
Does anyone else know of any other guards to consider?
These work. Not particularly long but that's okay in the rough bits https://www.wiggle.com/p/lifeline-wide-mudguard-set
You can get this extension flap that makes them 170mm longer at the rear.
Came on to ask this question!! Other than the speedrocker any decent guards that cost <£50 that will work well over a 40mm tyre?
I ended up getting SKS edge AL guards 56mm that fit g-one 40mm tyres no bother. The front stays needed cutting down but was easy enough with some bolt cutters.
