So, the wife is after a bike, she's had a 2 or 3 hardtails in the past and doesn't like them as they hurt her posterior, so I've come up with the idea of getting a trail type FS - I can also ride it 😉 - the budget isn't huge and I can't help but head towards Vitus and in particular the Mythique VRS as I have a couple of Vitus bikes, a Substance CRS and a Energie Evo CRS and they're bloody brilliant to be fair, the middle child also has a Vitus Junior thingy with 24" wheels.
Overall the Mythique looks well enough specc'd for the money and it's also a nice colour, any opinions on them?
Mrs Jimbo has the VRW (one spec down) and I can't think of anything FS that comes close for the money new. It's definitely not fancy but everything is nicely finished and there's no corners cut I can see. If I was being picky the fork isn't amazingly damped and the cable routing round the lower pivot is really tight, but in practice neither have bothered her. Bung a decent saddle on it and some tubeless valves and you'll not go wrong.
I can’t add direct experience but I raced a Vitus Rapide hard tail for a couple of years, great bike and good value too. I’d buy one again on that basis- and actually I am thinking about replacing my Clockwork Evo with a FS toy bike with a Mythique on the list.
I have a 2019 Vitus Sommet and for the money cannot fault it. Mine was cheaper as I bought prev year's model just as we went into first lockdown etc. one of the best value for money offerings out there imho
I have a 2020 Mythique VRS. The X-Fusion fork died after a day and a half (hydrolocked damper cartridge). X Fusion spares a very difficult to come by and CRC replaced them with some Marzocchi Z1s. Brilliant!
My wife has just bought a 2022 VRX. That has Z2s.
In terms of VFM they are unbeatable.
Maybe I was unfortunate that the 3 I rode were part of a demo fleet but they were 3 of the worst bikes I've ever had the displeasure to ride
