I'm thinking about one of the alloy Vitus Energie's as a gravel bike.
I'm 6 foot 3 with a 33 inside leg and a large looks best. The xl has quite a big reach compared to my marin gestalt with 396mm and 80mm stem.
Can anyone that owns one give me any pointers and how do they fare as an allrounder? Reviews seem to be quite positive.
Thanks
Idiot post, mines the carbon. I quite like it though!
Not that it really helps but I have a medium at 5'10 and it is spot on. So the sizing charts work. Long legs and short body so seat post is high.
Is it the evo version? I have two. One I've been racing cross on for 2 seasons and done some gravel - everything from the DR to the national champs. Really like it - I've never had a proper gravel bike though so not sure if it is more aggressive or not. I've always done my gravel riding on a CX bike because specific bikes are quite new. The other I bought to turn into a gravel specific bike. I run 43mm gravel kings but other than that it is stock. Cassette may be a bit small if you are somewhere hilly. I certainly struggled towards the end of the DR pushing 40:36. Got a 42t to try this year.
Thanks jonba, the carbon and alloy are the same sizing and I reckon large is the better bet for me.
The alloy vr/vrs take 45mm tyres and I will fit 2x grx that I have at present. I live near the Yorkshire Wolds so flat roads out then some sharp climbs. Currently on 38x11-42 which is ok off road but on is a compromise. My rides are 2-3 hours from ther door so i want something fast and off road its the edge of fields and nothing technical so from the reviews seems better placed than a gravel bike.
