I've been using a Vittoria Barzo up front and Mezcal rear for xc riding on a hardtail 29er.Terrain is natural wooded trail. Mezcal is starting to struggle on the back on wet roots and under braking. Thinking of using Gato on the back anyone else use this combo? I may also go to Rosedale and Dalby later in the year and want tyres suited to this also.
Yep.
Barzo front and Gato 2 TNT Â (big difference) on the rear. Â Feel like it describes itself - fast, with more grip than you give it credit for, sliding in an "XC" (controlled) way on a slimy damp mud surface but grips well in sloppier mud clearing very quickly where it can bite. Â Its not a mud spike, its a fast mud tyre.
Thats only 1 rides worth of experience though, I'll be out on it again this weekend.
I've Goma TNT's on at the moment.
Very Ardent like - light, fast, supple, grippy in straight line, floaty on deep mud, lack a bit of edge bite. I like, perhaps more a Spring, Summer, Autumn tyre than a winter one....
