In a word, no. Leicester is completely devoid of MTB action I'm afraid, there's some okish routes and some half decent singletrack if you have a local guide but nothing to get exited about.....

I lived there for 20 years and I can tell you categorically there are no trails unless you drive to derbyshire. also very little else going for it, I suggest you cancel your trip

There's some passable stuff around Ticknall, 20-ish miles away just inside Derbyshire.

You can just about put a 'route' together from the very few bridleways that there are on the Charnwood Forest, but it's barely worth getting out of bed for. Be a lot more fun on a 'cross bike, mind...

when people say okish and passable what exactly do they mean ? i would say the monkey trail in cannock chase is ok, so more or less ok than that ??

Dunno, I've never ridden at Cannock. You're mainly looking at farm tracks, 4x4 tracks and woodland bridleways, though, unless you want to go cheeky...

There's a kind of mini trail centre opened in Fineshade/Wakerley Woods near Corby that's ok,* but not worth travelling far to get to (and not in Leicester).

If you want know what is good in Leicester - it's mostly food based 😀 e.g. http://www.eatatbobbys.com/

*Much less ok than the monkey.

i lived there for twenty odd years and Leicester is rubbish for mtb. as mentioned above there's a couple hours worth you could string together charnwood way, and some fun cheeky bits whitwick way and i used to ride extremely cheekily in some disused quarries markfield way, but i think they've been re-commisioned.
the rest is yer classic "side of a muddy field" stuff.

I suggest you cancel your trip

😆

I use dto live in Nottingham, and worked in leicester for a year and a bit. I agree with the rest of the people above, there are no trails in Leicester.

Leicestershire does have nice Bridleways, I once did a 25/30 mile loop around Melton, but to be honest it was quite boring, and mainly accross farmland.

Although there is no well known trail centre type stuff. There is some fun woodland singletrack in north west leicestershire, if you know where to look/have a guide. Good for a few hours evening riding.

If you are happy with the cheeky rules, there's some fun night time riding to be had.

Where in leiecester will you be staying? I can email you some pointers...

A group of us ride every Sunday morning in South Leics, and usually manage a 2-3 hour ride that keeps us happy. It's not the peaks for sure, but certainly worth getting out of bed for – stuff round Hallaton is fun, and finishes in a great cafe.
If you’re visit brings to the south of the county get in touch and you’d be more than welcome to join us – might show you some of the trails that others obviously didn’t find!

Ha, Cannock it most definitely isn't! I've lived here for 30 years and have been mountain biking for 20. I'd drive to Cannock for a decent ride.....

There is some decent stuff of you go and explore, some admittedly a bit cheeky
Cademan woods
Thringstone
Bradgate
Swithland
There is some dirt jumps off the a512 near shepsted that cn be linked in to the above
Further afield there is a ride on the trails tab up there is east mids south of Nottingham as well as ticknall (my local ride)
Or towards tamworth there is hopwas
All closer than Cannock or pines (and prob better than pines)

Which bits of bradgate have you ridden, always fancied heading of the main path but theres always wardens around, swithland's not to bad just not very big and your not supposed to ride the majority of it!
