A friend of mine has one of these , we went to the Quantocks last week , she went to switch it on nothing zilch . When she got home she checked the charge and took the battery out , no joy . She read on EMTB forum it’s quite common , STW had one on test and Ben had the same issue , I’m waiting on a reply from him but has anybody managed to find a fix for this ? It’s a disaster as Vitus and CRCare both gone now and she has hardly ridden the bike 😡
I had this after a month or so of not using it, I knew there was at least 50% battery left so thought it had died. Dropped the battery out and pressed the power button and all good again, must be a safety thing. Worth a try?
Theres a chap on the EMTB forum who is a whizz with these, Neekodevinci iirc.
Evans have had them available to buy recently so might be able to help.
He's on this thread:

theres also an independent ebike maintenance company on facebook, good to see them reviving dead stuff, forgotton their name
If you paid by credit card you will have section 75 cover
The card provider takes over the warranty responsibilites as crc/vitus went bust. It was sold with a 2 year motor/battery warranty, its worth contacting them as some people have had full refunds
I'm not sure if you have any protections if you paid by debit card though
Yes - I had exactly the same problem
I bought a new switch and display just in case this was the issue (they are the simplest to change) which it wasn't
The Vitus FB group was extremely useful
I ended up taking the motor apart myself (not too difficult - there is a video on YT)
Once open I spotted one of the boards had some mud residue so had clearly got wet
I took a punt this was the issue and ordered a replacement board
I also ordered a gasket, but there is a specific one for the M510 motor and the M500 one was the only one available
So I ended up cutting my own one out of gasket paper
I think the water got in at the spot where the cables connect to the board I replaced as there is a flexible rubber seal
I packed a bit of silicone grease in there to improve the seal
Put it all back together and it worked first time (fixed November 2024)
If I exclude the switch/display it cost me about £35 to fix
Lol at the thread title calling it a Virus 😛 (sorry)
@rathz she tells me she's lost faith in the bike which I can understand, she's already talking about a replacement, hopefully she paid by credit card .
@desperatecycle I didn't notice that , sausage fingers 🙄
sausage fingers
Thats one of the symptoms
