We're booked into a campsite at Villeneuve de Berg in the Ardeche, due west of Montelimar in late July.
Though have experience of taking bikes to Dordogne, this is a new area for us. Apparently lots of canoeing about, and was wondering if I should take the bike.
I've got some maps to dig into, just arived and at first look the terrain looks quite unusual. Not sure how to read it.
As it's unknown terrain to me, was wondering if anyone's been?
cheers

My parents live a little bit west of there, next to the Cevennes National Park. Lots of forest tracks to explore in the Cevennes. The Ardeche region has lots of gorges and wooded areas to explore, whereas further east the Cevennes National Park is more mountainous and forested.
ok... I think I got the impression it was very steep valleys from the maps and Google Earth. Sometimes it's difficult to work out tracks, even on the maps. Last time, in the Dordogne, the maps and 'reality' on the ground didn't always match up!
I'll take a look over at the Cevennes but was more concerned about whether the area local to the village is worth the effort.
