Pop quiz folks ..... So if you obtained video footage of a trail saboteur blocking an UNOFFICIAL mtb trail and had a confidant idea who that person is , what would you do ??????

Ps its not Ron Davies either

What's the legal status of this hypothetical trail?

Unofficial or not, if it's been done in a fashion that is likely to injure or maim then report it to the Police.

Post it on here so we can share the joy then inform the landowner/managers and the police if what was done was dangerous.

Find out where they live, go round and crack a little turd on the doorstep. Pop a wee flag in it saying "I saw you"

That should do it.

Email them the video form an anonymous account. Be cryptic. Shit them up a bit. No threats or anything.

Sneak round in the middle of the night with sandbags/railway sleepers/tipper full of manure and block his car in his driveway.

a)Proper sabotage as in barbed wire at neck height?
Tell landowner and Plod.
b)Someone changing something that shouldn't be there anyway?
Nothing, they have as much right etc.
c) Someone removing jumps or any constructions etc?
Applaud them for having more sense than the constructor.
d) Someone adding features to a nice smooth natural route?
Have a sharp word and then return to natural state.

What Scotroutes said, but if it doesn't meet his criteria then what wrecker said.

Now here's a thought. What about all those whose modifications to 😉 a trail that makes it more dangerous? I know a few of those that were lovely smooth runs but now have jumps added.

I'll just say that there are no natural trails. No such thing.

ALL trails are natural, unless they start in a graveyard

Only in the context that a trail with ladder drops and doubles is as natural as a footpath through a wood.
The "natural" as referred to here is nonsense. There is nothing more natural about a path in the local woods than there is about a trail centre blue route.

Bobbins! I've ridden down a dry river bed 😛

Full of naturally made berms, so it was.

Is the sabotage bordering (or worse) on attempted manslaughter?

Given some of the horrendous things we have read this year regarding sabotage injuries, I'd like to think the CPS would be very keen to take this footage and push to hit them hard with a prosecution, to put off these muppets who place barbed wire at neck height etc.

well they are all man made to some degree but i know [s]plenty [/s] some that just follow deer runs or the like and did not involve plans, Risk assessments, machinery and the addition of a purpose built and imported top surface

They have all sort of been made but some naturally and some by the help of man and some ONLY by man

Not sure it make sense to not differentiate between them

YMMV

Everything is subject to risk assessments!

Makes no difference though. Most of what are considered to be the best trails on the planet were made ONLY by man. It's only here that some seem to hold a sheep track in higher regard than a built trail. British snobbishness I reckon. junky, you snob you! 😉
