Hello,

I travel to Verwood quite a bit, every time I go past the 1st gravel car park on the left as you come off the A31 from Ringwood, I always see a lot of riders.

I get there is the Verwood north shore type bike park, but the variation of bikes seems a bit much for that type of riding... could be wrong?

And then there is Moors Valley but thats quite a way away at this point.

So is there other cheeky stuff coming off of this carpark? If I make the trip with my bike are there worthwhile trails to be found?

I've wondered the same myself, seen some big bikes and full DH gear when we were camping near there. All I found was this place: -

Its called Watchmoor Wood. An officially FC approved shore area.

Got a bit neglected. A lot of the woodwork has been taken down as it had gone hellishly slippery (no chicken wire). Nice little pump track at the bottom.

Most riding is done on unofficial trails over the fence. Some good stuff.

Are the cheekys over the fence easy to find? As in, could I just roll up, go "oh theres the fence" and then have at it?

I'm not really into "bike park" type riding (I don't do jumping, mainly), but am a fan of a decent trail.

Moores valley loop is very close to watchmore. Like 5 mins. Good track to test you if you have the legs and ride it flat out. Pick your time though as it nearly always has walkers dogs and 3 year olds on it. Re cheeky tracks just head up the hill from watchmore and follow the tyre tracks. Maybe have a look for segments on strava

That is the 'free' car park to access Moors Valley loop, head out the car park and down the hill, over the first track and the loop crosses the track there. As DT78 says…hit it flat out for a bit of fun, it is best at night! Walkers shouldn't be on it but they do get on there!

Yeah I rode Moors a few days ago for the first time - it's alright if you give it some the whole way round but the moment you stop...

I went like 2pm Tuesday. Was an older walker type gentleman walking the wrong way round the only slightly downhill part of the trail ffs.

Head up the hill - gotcha. Maybe i'll pop up later this arvo!

plyphon, the cheeky trails are between the top of Watchmoor Wood and the B road. Highly unlikely anybody will moan at you.

Newforce and Dorset Rough Riders ride there quite often. There's plenty of trails to do a variety of 3-hour rides and easy links to some of the bridleways to the North.

Head for Stephens Castle, Mount Ararat for lots of singletrack hidden in the trees ~(if you can find them). Avoid busy times ie weekends, especially close to Moors Valley. Evenings are best particularly after dark.

Its possible to link through to Cranborne Chase for a big ride with hills too.
