You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I have to store 6 bikes vertically in the new utility/bike store.
I have got 6 of those PlanetX hooks to hang them off.
The utility is a timber frame extension. 150mm timber studs at 400mm centres, with 50mm insulation amd 12.5mm plasterboard behind.
As a result i need a large timber patress to fix into the timber frame. I have found a really flattened natural piece of timbe which will look cool.
So,
Will a 35mm thick piece of timber be enough to act as a patress?
What type of fixing do i need to go through patress, insulation and into timber frame?
Get a heavy duty mdf or chipboard sheet, attach that to the studs, and attach the hangers to the mdf/chipboard.
whatever length screws to affix to stud, and then sensible screws to attach hangar to chipboard
can also drill bigger holes and use plasterboard butterflies to attach hangers to mdf w good load bearing
IANA-chippie so no idea what a patress is, but this worked for my shed
don't use mdf or chipboard, use what you're suggesting.. second piece below for tyres to rest on to balance the look?
Timberlock of GRK type structural screws (self tapping screws, stronger than lag bolts in a wide range of lengths) into your studs.
