Van fork mount shimming

Hi all, currently in the final stages of building a van pull out tray mob dirt bag wannabe. Trays all built and I’m quite pleased.

The fork mount forward/backward position on the tray is adjusted via a short unwin track and the mount is slanted using a blokpod unwin mounting plate.

As with any slanted design this puts the bike in a leaning position when mounted which looks naff and also leans the bike outside the tray dimensions so I’m looking to ‘shim’ the mount to bring the bike back level.

Has anyone done this neatly? I could use washers and get the angles right but would prefer a tidier option given the tray cost/effort.

Looking forward to suggestions

ta

I've been thinking about this and I suspect you'll have to get an angled spacer block made. Then you might run into issues with the angle the bolts make with the unwin track it's all mounted to. It almost feels like it would be worth getting the whole thing machined up so the bolt holes are vertical and the fork mounts are angled correctly. You might be able to take the blockpod mount and have that skimmed at an angle?

I mounted my fork mounts onto a piece of wood. Could you not just cut an angled piece of wood to mount them onto? Or have it on a hinge so you can adjust the angle?

Unaka mounts are what I went for. Better, imo, than Rocky Mounts as each mount can be converted to accept any axle and they've a lower height.

Blokpod, or a similar design, I've had before and it's a faff trying to balance the bike in place and thread the axle through.

Interested in this as I've a bunch of fork mounts from AliExpress turn up and some extrusion I can repurpose from work. Got any pictures of the problem?

Hi all, sorry didn’t notice the replies.

ive a piece of alloy flat bar on its way. The plans to file down to match the angle and have oval holes for the bolts to go through. Only way I can think of sorting the bolt angle is to use the convex/concave washers similar to the avid style.

The leftfield thought is a ram ‘ball’ style mount that can be adjusted to the angle with ease. Bit fugly though.

The Unaka mounts are lovely but I just couldn’t stomach the postage. Went with the new delta bolt through pro. Bit improvement on the ztto style and the previous delta as it has threaded adapters that extend for different front axle sizes. No 20mm but only 1 bike I own has that and it’s not going to be used very often.

I wouldn’t trust a RAM mount to hold up in a crash. They’re mainly die castings.

Noted, that’s that scrubbed then if only for the long term durability (not planning the crashing)
