2011-2014 26er 150mm travel 1x10 11-32, 34T chainring, Shimano
2014-2017 650b 165mm travel) 1x10 11-36, 32T chainring, Shimano
2018 same bike 1x11 11-46 32T chainring, Shimano
Never struggled with my climbing even on these bigger travel bikes but it does seem I've accepted gears getting easier on my 1x setup. I've done alpine climbs this summer that I would not have got up without the 46T.
So I have now bagged a 29er, 150mm travel. Came with GX Eagle with a 32T chainring; DT 350 hub with the XD driver; Matchmaker on the brakes. All makes sense. Bigger wheels offset by bigger dinner plate cog; clean cockpit integration. Except...
... I like the ergonomics of flattish brake levers and having the gear shifter twisted further round; matchmaker doesn't have the range needed. I also like dumping two gears at a time on the Shimano levers
... reputation for exploding SRAM jockey wheel bearings and we're now heading into the glorious Scottish winter
... my "one" bike is stored on a direct drive smart trainer (Zwift etc.) that gives me some sanity-saving workouts in the winter and also saves space. The trainer needs roadie-style close ratios and the compatibility is 11 speed only
The 29er is currently unused so bits taken off it can be sold as OE parts removed from new bike.
Options:
1. Don't Zwift any more (hurrah!); grease up the jockey wheel bearings and have some spares in the backpack; if the ergonomics are dreadful, mount the shifter on an independent bar clamp
2. Swap back to a Shimano 11 speed (got most of that lying around) but I'd have to buy a DT Shimano freehub; sell GX Eagle but, because it is matchmakered, I'd have to work out who gets the clamp in the divorce; option remains to sell the brakes too while they're unused
3. Mix'n'match SRAM 11 speed cassette and (I think) a SRAM 11 speed shifter, compatible with the Eagle mech (only goes 10-42, so will be a double whammy with 29er wheels and 32T; jockey wheels will still explode; matchmaker will still put the ergonomics all to cock)
4. erm...
I think the answer is 2. but it seems I'm passing up on all this latest Eagle tech which is the new fandango. Thoughts?

I can't be arsed reading a novella this lunchtime.
I only came in to find out what vacillating meant. Is dissapoint.
.....is the perfect name for a german death metal band.
Worst for sale ad evar. I'll give you £100 for all of the Eagle stuff as a punishment
