You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've used the Strava global heat map to find popular local trails and its been quite useful. Looking to expand it a bit for exploring leads to two questions:
Can I lay it over an OS map online? Can't find any map options on the website.
Any way for live tracking with a GPS phone. Thinking exporting it as a jpg and calibrating it. Any good way to do that or other ideas?
i just download other riders gpx files (premium user) and follow that
More thinking about being in an area where there as lots of tracks and trying to link them up rather than following a single track. You never quite know what you are going to find until you ride it and it's nice to explore.
Look up veloviewer mapflipper
If you've got a signal the segment explorer on Strava is good for locating segments on the ground.
VeloViewer map flipper doesn't seem to work with the heat map sadly 🙁 I've tried !!!
Could swear the map flipper used to work with the heatmap, but I'm looking at it now and it isn't, so possibly I'm mis-remembering.
The heatmap is one of the pinnacles of achievement in modern civilisation, just need to take care with directionality. Some trails only really work one way, and it's not always obvious which way that is from looking at the map.
Is heatmap only a premium user thing?
Don't think so - can you see this link?

Your personal heatmap is a premium thing AKAIK.
Never knew about mapflipper - that's brilliant thanks v much!
