ok, so i have a tapered 1 1/8th > 1 1/4 headtube on my giant, and i want to run a standard straight steerer fork.

i have brought a reducer shim for the lower end of the headtube, but just thought...the bearings wont fit into the shim! Any way around this? or am i screwed?!!

any help gratefully recieved!

Standard taper is 1 1/8" top and 1.5" at the bottom, not 1 1/4. If the Giant is 1 1/4 then that'll be your problem.

Ah, road bike. I did wonder.

You're going to be a bit stuck I expect unless you can get someone to machine a shim for you (it's a very simple design obviously)
