After some advice,

can you use a 27.5 hardtail on a set of rollers,instead of a turbo trainer.

the weather has turned and need keep up the fitness through the dark wet nights

any advise is greatly appreciated

No reason why not...standard mtb tyres will make a lot of noise though but will work.

Yes works fine, I use Thurnderburts but it is still noisy with a pair of in ear headphones it's ok.

I wouldn't want to use it in the house though.

Go to a national mtb race and you'll hear lots of people warming up on rollers with knobbly tyres. Your neighbours will probably prefer some slicks....

Of the 5 mtbs at mine, only the gfs bike has a short enough wheelbase to work on Tacx rollers. Most modern stuf won’t work on tacx rollers, not sure about others.

Most folk use turbos for workouts.

Do rollers give sufficient resistance?

Al - I used rollers with my TT bike to train for two ironman triathlons - you can get a decent workout on them. Well using a 53:11 gear anyway; a 32:11 top end may be a different kettle of biscuits .
