So on the 4th September our little town gets a Tour of Britain stage finish. Mrs Ampthill is over the moon and will get an official invite due being on the Council. I might get out of work as her plus one, fingers crossed.
This makes up for the disappointment of the Womens tour cancelling a finish here when she was Mayor

As a cyclist in Milton Keynes I wonder if I will be given the day off work to watch it?

You might be able to volunteer to marshal! I did, (volunteer) once when it came round our neck of the woods. But then they took the piss with asking me to go for a 2 day training course and IIRC pay for some aspect of it too. Didn't even bother politely declining the invite.
Race starts in the town I grew up in. Brilliant! However a quick check of the school calendar tells me the kids will be back at school so I'll be watching on the telly.
All first four are down sarf(ish). Booo

The race starts in the east and the first four stages head vaguely west across the centre of This Sceptred Isle. From what I hear, this continues in the following stages so don't expect to see anything North of Manchester, or down towards Cornwall...
So is it finishing in Ampthill? Is the town named after you @Ampthill or vice-versa?
That’s such a good question
positive
Are you so great they named a town after you
negative
Are you so old that a town that’s grew up because of Henry the Eighth using the deer park could be named after you
They could do a few laps on the different tracks at Millbrook
Lucky you. Hope it goes well.
Im from Barton le Clay myself, and lived in Cranfield too(on the uni campus)
Another Barton rider. Hoping to get out on the gravel bike and watch the pros go flying by 🙂
