I have a USE SUMO suss seatpost, bought to replace an earlier model that was lost. The earlier model was fit and forget. The new one has been tightened to the specified torque more than once, but has a habit of slipping backwards.
I plan to re-assemble with grease on the mating surfaces this time, and see how that works, in case it tightens more effectively. The step beyond this may be a new longer bolt and a bigger nut and washer.
Has anyone else had this problem and found an answer.
Try friction paste rather than grease?
I've not used many MTB components that have been a complete failure - but the USE sumo is one of them. Torqued, greased, not greased, clamp replaced on warranty - chronic slipping.
Carbon paste worked for me
Thanks, will try carbon paste.
Carbon paste here as well, a longer bolt and bigger nut will probably just cause the round cup bits to crack as they're aluminium not steel and they don't like being over tightened too much.
They cost more than parts for the space shuttle when you crack em too..
