So, ive looked this up and looking to replace drivechains on bikes. 11 speed chains will work on 9 speed chainrings.
I have 11 speed, 10 speeed and 9 speed bikes.
Right now, 11 speed SRAM chains are cheaper than 9 speed. And if they fit, why not just have 11 speeds in my spares box and use them on all the bikes. I replace the chains often anyway, so why not?
Does anyone else do this? Comments please....
Yes. I only have 11 and 12s chains in the spares box and on the bikes despite one bike being 9sp. It works fine and means only 2 chains in the spares box and and spare links in the packs.
Yep I've been defaulting to 11 speed chains on all bikes for a while, all 9 and 10 speed play fine with them, seems to work better with N/W rings too.
