Anyone know if it's possible to get UK maps onto one of these things?

Never tried it, but can't see why not. They aren't region locked.

You can upload maps from a computer? Can you get the maps online or something?

You buy them on DVD from Garmin retailers, or there are some free versions available too.
Google free maps for garmin edge and you'll see the options.
