just stripping down my cotic for a respray have avid juicy carbons which were a pain fitting through the STOOPID hoop guides involving new compression fittings etc etc but i needed to shorten the hoses anyway.

Now i come to take them off it seems i've got to cut the compression fitting off shorten the hose again and then pull the hose through and then put another compression fitting on with a shortened hose. which means i'll have to replace the hose as it was the right length!

OR is there another way? because when i get the hose off i'm cutting the ****in' hoops off with an angle grinder cause they are so ****in' crap.

thanks

Best solution is to use Hope brakes which have reusable fittings 🙂

Use cable cutters or pliers on the hose side of the olive and gently squeeze and wiggle the bayonet and olive off the end of the hose. The olive can be opened up with long nose piers and used again the opposite way round. You may need to trim the hose back a couple of mm but this shouldn't affect the overall length much.

i know i used to use hopes on it. i'm having the hoops taken off with the respray and zip tie guides put on so i guess i'll just cut away!!!!!! and then increase my expenditure with new hoses

Hope brakes. Pah, you may as well put your feet down. At least you know they will work.

My indy fab ti has hoops and they are a pain but look good IMO when the jobs done. Dont think I'll be taking a grinder to them.

Done it many times and they have never leaked. Its just a bit fiddly sometimes to get the bayonet out of the inner hose that comes away.

Hoop guides are the devils work. It staggers me that anyone ever thought they were a good idea.

fenboy - I'm just about to strip my Soul sown for pretty much exactly the same treatment as yours - hose guides modified, centre-of-top-tube hose guide adding, and a respray.

Could I ask where you are getting yours done, and how much it's costing for the whole job? How long are you expecting it to take? Oh, and are you refitting original decals, and if so, are they being lacquered over?

Sorry for all the questions - they've been going around in my head for a few weeks, and I've finally found somebody to ask...
